This is an RP, its meant to be fun. We dont want a 100% accurate thing here. We DO want a few ridiculous exceptions. We DO want a nation of pirates just going on stealing ppls ships. We DO want a nation of magical floating castles. We DO want pony-rights-addicted dragons. We DO want freaking huge groups of ponies just trampling towards you! These things make the RP a lot more ineresting. I mean think of this, if it were to be a 100% - logical RP, which i did consider while making it we would have to:

 

Actually wait days for a ships to move between nations.... cuz a journey would take weeks.

Spend half of our posting time in politics leading to almost every decision

Hell; many nations that have never met each other would speak different languages... making early diplo impossible...

There can be some acceptable breaks, yes, but there are still parts you can't BS with, otherwise it could lead to a lot of "justified powerplaying" (i.e. I'm a Scientific so I get to use <BS weapon> on this nation). Giving someone an impossibly massive military is problematic, especially when you're having a war...which is not fun.

 

Shortening ship travel is an acceptable break from reality...though time skip is your friend. You can almost always say "After six weeks of travel..." and do a mention to the player you're with so you're both at the same time.

 

You don't always have to focus on politics all the time in the NRP. Half the fun is the ability to play anyone you want, only if it advances some plot in a way, so you can play from a lowly peasant to a noble-mare.

 

Finally...most countries in this RP are likely based off of Western cultures, and some even have English names, so it's not entirely out of left field to claom they speak similar, if not the same languages. Pruine and the Liao are the only non-Western culture countries, after all (Pruine appears to be Turkic in some way, while Liao is certified Chinese).

Hey, i noticed that a lot of nations have a big population, that heavily out numbers mine. So i was wondering if i could increase it to 500000? Just to kinda match the others

Military doesn't matter that much...I don't get why people want max miltary. Nations can mobilize within a few months so keeping a massive military in peacetime is not only irrelevant but also costly in terms of resources and labor.

 

Hetiandi only has 2% of its population as military, too...apparently I' the lowest of all the countries here.

Again, I say. The military power isnt necessarily the standing army, its the maximum raisable population (not including militias... which would be totally random)

Still, people are assuming that it's standing army, not the max-population ceiling...as seen with a few countries.

I'm hoping I get interaction too, by the way...

No bigger than a 18th century frigate. Hetiandi's population is hardly as large as real life Imperial China's, even during the Song, and they're not very war-oriented. Their navy has less than five man-o-wars (the Asian kind!).

I've been thinking about this and its true, the populations are pretty bad. They favour scientifics way too much. I mean an example, me-cruki. 10,000 rifle-armed soldiers could easily take out 100k spear-armed guys with little to know casualties if plpayed right, this would mean a huge % of his pop gone. The population increase WILL NOT mean that you can enlargen your army, it just means you can replentish your ranks easily, therefore armies would be the same. Also, this might take the focus of millitary a bit. Im proposing a pop increase in the following manner.

 

Traditionals x4, however there is a catch. You will have huge pops, but they will be in clans aka hordes. Each horde would have a leader, much like feudals. Even though they all share the same overlord, they might not agree with all deciosions. Some hordes might not join a war or take a certain action, even if their leader orders them to (might revolt) and internal battles in such a nation between hordes are possible. SO, think of it feudalish.

Oh, I'd missed that. I've put the standing army at 10,000 combat and 7000 non-combat on a population of 9,000,000. I would like to apply to raise my current standing army to 30,000 combat and 21,000 non-combat, with a maximum military power of 300,000 (i.e. 3.33% of the population at most in the professional army, and 0.566% in the current professional army.) Sorry for the confusion, although this should mean that since my navy is also sorted the numbers are finally done.

@@Lordav,  Sure, 10,000 well  trained armed people could take out way more non rifle people, but wouldn't you have to train people to get that kind of skill? Wouldn't it make it so that you still could resupply troops, but they would be nowhere as good as before?
