Being a big Nightmare Before Christmas fan, I've gotten in plenty of conversations about it. While we can agree on many things about the movie, there is one topic of issue I've seen brought up again and again: Is it a Halloween horror or a Christmas classic? Or maybe its both? Or perhaps neither? That's what I ask of all of you, tell me, which is it?

The director has said that it's a halloween movie. Anyone can disagree if they want, but I'm siding with him on this one.http://www.ew.com/article/2015/10/19/nightmare-before-christmas-halloween-or-christmas

I know, but I, along with a lot of other people, think it fits as both. But I'm not disagreeing with the director, I'm just of a differing opinion.

It's overrated as buck is what it is.

But given it's more macabre nature and visual style, plus the fact that it's about Halloween folk trying to do a different holiday and failing and going back to being Halloween folk, I'd say Halloween movie.

Well, it does have characters related to the Halloween holiday, but I think it's more of a Christmas movie. First of all, Halloween doesn't really happen in the movie. It opens up the day after and then the rest is the build up to Christmas. The characters themselves are Halloween for sure, but the story doesn't focus on the Halloween holiday, it focuses on Christmas :P
