So there's a thing called Illuminati that the internet makes jokes about. From what I've heard, the Illuminati is a gang that kills people, and the logo is a yellow triangle with one eye, stolen from the dollar. On the other hand, Gravity Falls has made an obvious reference to the Illuminati by creating a character named Bill Cipher, that is a yellow triangle with one eye. It doesn't seem to be making a reference to just the Illuminati, but also the dollar, as he also show bricks below his eye, making him look like a pyramid, which I don't think is shown in the Illuminati logo. What do you think of when you hear ''Yellow triangle with an eye'', the Illuminati or Bill Cipher?

That's the eye of ra which is a ancient egyptian symbol that the dollar bill uses and what gravity falls is really referencing, so both of them are making the same reference not one of the other. Gravity falls is using it as the symbol for a secret organization and the symbol on the dollar has roots in one too, but i'm not sure something the 3 mason is what the group was called, but I don't know why they use that symbol.

The illuminati isn't a gang that kills people, it's supposedly a secret society or a number of secret societies secretly pulling the strings of politics behind the scenes and controlling global events. Historically it's something else entirely, but yes, I thought of Bill Cipher and the Millennium Puzzle from Yugioh first from that description.

The Illuminati (the “enlightened ones”) is (or was) a secret society created in 1785. Originally, they opposed superstition, prejudice, religious influence over public life, and abuses of state power. Later, other groups formed using the same name. There is no evidence that these present-day groups have any significant power or influence.

 
And what people think about when they say Illuminati today is very different from what the original group was, just like @Celtore said, haha.
 
Anyway, I haven't seen gravity falls so of course I think about Illuminati.
