Alright, details. This wasn't really meant to be an RP. Mainly because I'm not sure I can really keep those two's chatter going all by myself, to be honest. They're not *my* characters, you see.

 

However, we needed to introduce the Mascots because of other things going on where they were showing up here, there, and everywhere without really letting anyone know who they were and why they were showing up. So it was decided to intro them here. An intro post in Canterlot Castle didn't seem right, when they were RP Mascots. It should be in the RP area, right? But when I was writing up the intro post I just couldn't do it in purely informational OOC style. The pair (and their big bro) just wanted to 'speak'. So the post wandered way too far into RP for me to feel comfortable putting into the OOC area.

 

So here we are. Again, to be honest, this might have been better off being in the 'Ask a Pony' area, but that would still be weird given these guys are RP Mascots and should be seen here. Although the line between the RP area and the Ask a Pony area is quite blurry, I admit.

 

So here's my proposal, and I'll need the rest of the RP team's buy-off on this, you understand. We have this as an fully in-character 'Ask a Pony'-like RP, where the Mascot character responses can be done by any of the RP staffers. Opinions on the idea?

Let me get buy-off from the rest of the RP staffers first, for playing the Mascots. I don't want to sign them up for stuff if the idea doesn't appeal to them or if they don't have the time to pull this off. Staffing this place cuts into our RP time massively, and if this ends up being another drain on their actual RP-time, it's just not fair on them for me to ask them to do it.

What I'm thinking is that RP staff would run the mascots. Everyone else would be free to join with their own characters, it's just the Mascots wouldn't necessarily be run by a single person. That way they're not *my* characters, they represent the RP group as a whole. Again, I'm not sure this idea will fly. It's late here, and it's long past the time I should be asleep, so I might be just talking nonsense.

Irrelevant to you guys, but if you see the format/style change drastically from one post to the next, that's why.  

 

We're going to follow on the 'intro' post with an actual RP set-the-scene-and-scenario post. Anyone who wants in, go ahead and post after that. Please keep your posts... RP-ish. Ask questions in-character and all that, rather than 'floating out of the aether' the way Tumblr or Ask-a-Pony tends to do it. Otherwise there's no point in doing this in the RP section. 

 

I'm still a little surprised that people are interested in doing this, really. Especially when I see so little love for Wordplay in the Mascot poll going on right now...

Fascinating question. Let's keep it to Equestrian-type OCs for now, as I'm not sure the rest exist in the 'Poniverse' that the Mascots live in as such.
