What other races do you think exist in their world?

Nah, true sci-fi would have gotten the facts straight.

No, the culprit here, is Tolkien and LotR, together with the first versions of D&D, that used and cemented the confusion.

I shall blaim sci-fi, on account of Star Trek using the term races often enough, when they should use species!

Hm?

I assume you don't mean Klingons and Vulcans, because there are both human-vulcan halfbreeds (Spock is/was one!), and human-klingon halfbreeds ...

Likes been said, there's really no limits. Any and all mythical creatures you can think of, I can picture being located somewhere in thier world. We've already got Manticores, Minotaurs, Dragons, and myself, the most bizzare looking chimera reference you've ever seen <3

and yes humans have 0% chance in canon

I have to ask, how could Minotaurs exist without humans? A minotaur is a creature with the head of a bull and the body of a human. Surely humans must have existed sometime?

I was thinking faeries but as pandy pointed out I don't think we will be seeing many human hybrids. Maybe we could see faeries like that of Navi from legend of Zelda. I am also thinking mermaids, if they changed the upper body to appear less...human.

I think every single animal that exists on earth exists in Equestria.

Equestria is pretty much Earth with humanity, except replace replace the human and replace it with ponyanity.

Maybe they're just a race of anthropomorphic bulls?

So far it looks like Equestria is populated by characters from the D&D Monster Manual! :D

I think trolls seem quite likely to appear. But all the other missing creatures of myth seem to be human hybrids, or not offering anything new compared to what has been seem before.

Harpies, satyrs, fauns, giants, ogres, and animated skeletons all fail at the first. And lizardfolk, hippogriffs, goblins, etc fail at the second.

Hmm, what about landsharks? Or is that too close to Quarry Eels?

One day they run into a purple worm... What happens next?

I'd love to see Lizardfolk or goblins of some sort show up in the show.

With Spike and the Diamond Dogs we almost have those already!

@ Princess Glados, Balrogs

Would be awesome.

They'd fit in nicely. Creatures made of elements (like the Windigoes and Timber Wolves*) have already appeared. A smokey, fiery balrog wouldn't be a stretch. Although we'd have to watch out for "concerned parents" worried about "satantic influences"

I have yet to see an armadillo. On humans showing up in Equestria though..I don't know. Maybe if it was introduced very nicely and they didn't take over the show, as in always appearing in every single episode.

Now it'd be really cool if they did a Lyra episode, with her finding evidence humans might exist or somthing :P .

Im willing to bet 100 [insert pony currency here] that there will be a Sphinx! I hope, Sphinxes are awesome

You know? I wouldn't be surprised. The moment Cerberus came out of nowhere and they ACTUALLY PAID LIP SERVICE TO HIS JOB! I knew the creators had the guts to feature just about anything as long as they tweaked it enough. (Not by much though!) A sphinx doing the typical riddle shtick wouldn't seem at all out of place.

Remember that episode when Sauron fought the mane 6?

WICKED.

But I'd like to believe that Equestria is inhabited by a lot of Middle Earth people, I myself being a Tolkien nerd.

Ever read "It's a Dangerous Business Going Out Your Door"? It is a magnificent fanfic that expands on the world of Equestria while keeping the most on-key internal consistency I've seen in a fanfic. The author introduces new lands and races, but at no point breaks the rules of what we've been given! I mention it in particular because the story has heavy Tolkien influences and they only serve to make it all the better. (Again, this makes sense since even Canterlot was partially based off of Minas Tirith!)

While you do bring up a good question, the jury is still out on why they're called "Minotaurs".

"Minotaur" literally means "Mino's Bull", so the name itself do not imply any "half-human" at all.

It is "The Bull from Minos".

There's snakes...

Snake people is something I considered for a fanfic once...

The Eldar version of a pony? Actually, that notion makes me suspicious of Celestia. :P

How about an inter-dimensional race?

Everypony is special and has a unique talent. Never think your talent is worth less than somepony else's. ^-^V
