general Fictional Governments

I would have to say the system in Naruto.

I guess I can get behind feudalism enforced by magical ninjas. It may not be practical, but it's one of the more awesome forms of government.

The Republic from Star Wars. Weak, impotent, unobtrusive bordering on lawless, held together by an ancient order of Shaolin Spacemen, yet it still stood exponentially longer than the Roman Empire.

Amoral cynic with a bitchin' vocabulary.

Check out A Century of Song if you like music from before this millennium.

Uh... the US (Navy) from the SILO Chronicles? In the books, the two alternate universe versions of the United States military were at war with each other, and the Navy (aka SILO) were thought to be the bad guys.

In the end, they were defending the original universe world from the alternate universe Air Force.

My Civ V foreign policy: Leave me alone while I expand rapidly and setup maritime cities. No, I don't care if I took your planned land. You should've sent a settler there. No, I don't care that you're having problems with France. In fact, I'll give France one of my puppets just for S&G.

If you attack my city states or are a general expansion annoyance, I'll reduce all your cities including your capital to dust except for the very last one keeping you alive, and repeatedly pillage all the territory so your citizens starve and you are forever behind everyone else in technological advancement.

I'm a good person

The Advent Coalition from Xcom 2. Sure there may be alot of unanswered questions about how they provide for the people or the civilian deaths in Xcom "Terrorist attacks" But I mean......the soldiers look cool.....so you know that counts for something :D

Galactic Republic (Star Wars): Far from perfect but due to how huge the galaxy is the damage it can do is limited in that respect as the member planets are semi autonomous. It is kind of like a UN except with a bit more power and a bit less corruption.

MLP government: They don't go into too much detail about the governmental system of Equestria but what we do know is with Celestia, Luna and now Twilight (I didn't include Cadence because she rules the Crystal Empire which is separate nation) that it is a triarchy that likely has some democratic elements to it. It is also implies that Equestria's poverty, crime and corruption rates are fairly low. This dosen't mean those problems are non existent and were likely much worse in the past but that they don't seem to be the pervasive problems they are in various nations in the real world.

I can't really think of any that aren't just a slightly different form of a current government, with the exception of the unrealistically perfect (Dinotopia seemed a bit too utopian, looking back) or the excessively repressive (40k's Imperium of Man.)

If we're accepting Civ V governments, though, then the government that I like the most would probably be the one I founded in 'The Last Federation' -  yes, there may have been a spot of genocide in setting it up (they started it!) but I managed it, and got most of the races into the Federation (it went a bit like this, albeit not exactly.)

Participating in this RP can be agonizing sometimes.

I always thought the government in the Dragon Ball franchise is particularly hilarious because of how woefully inept and ill-equipped they are. The foes that try and conquer Earth could literally withstand the entire might of the world's combined military and not even break a sweat. Why do they even try?
