Shouldn't Spike's hands be considered very useful?

There's so much episodes that make Spike look useless but why can't they shine more upon his ability to grip things well?

I think the show tries not to be realistic, but more cartooney in nature. Usually shows with animal characters don't emphasize the species' weaknesses they make have in reality.

I mean Twilight was fascinated with her hands... so doubt hooves can grip objects very well.

Spikes "hands" should be considered very useful I agree. However, it seems that most ponies function just fine using their hooves for everyday tasks.

- Some can use magic anyway

Rarity and twilight trump Spike in that telekinesis is like opposable thumbs taken to the next level.
So unless EVERY unicorn is treated as being super important, spike's hands aren't really super special

Ponies have always had hooves, so they have learned different ways to hold things. I doubt they need help with that.

But since unicorn telekinesis is so common it couldn't be seen as special anymore. Spike is the only dragon among ponies so far unless you include Steve Magnet though his species is questionable.

 

Another interesting skill he has as a dragon is that he has an unnatural resistance to heat. He can swim in lava for instance.

Ponies seem to do fine without hands.  I have a headcanon that all ponies have some kind of telekinetic field around their hooves that lets them grip and manipulate objects.

Thinking more about it, ponies are able to grasp objects with their hooves, their mouths or even use magic to levitate things, so Spike's hands would just be a second option to carry items.

I suppose that's true. Though pony culture tends to have figured out ways to go without having hands (especially unicorns), so I imagine it's not too big of a deal. ^_^'

Also poor spike has armor-quality scales, and is clever when it comes to wealth aquisition, if you have seen the comics at least. But ponies are also sturdy tbh. And despite having good hands he has poor reach so half the time it doesn't matter. And he can breath fire, send letters to Celestia. He has his uses. And it makes me think Spike earning all the riches would prolly end up with Rarity anyways, especially since he is a gentleman.
