What's up with the continuity in season 6?

In The Crystalling, Starlight couldn't find her way to the throne room, despite doing so just fine in The Cutie Re-Mark, and in On Your Marks!, the CMC state that they only used to do things to get their cutie marks, which is not true. So, what's up with the continuity lately?

Well, I don't think writers always take small things like that into account. Keeping perfect continuity is much harder than some people realize. 

 

For an in-universe explanation, I don't know about Starlight, but it would make sense for the CMC to say something like that. People (kids especially) over exaggerate things all the time to get a point across. For example, I might say that I always played Halo when I was kid. That isn't completely true because I played other games too, so I didn't ALWAYS play Halo, but it gets the point across that I played Halo a lot.

I am more baffled at how we are getting another Heartswarming Eve episode this season when we had a holiday episode last season.

Seasons 1-3 all happened in the span of one year.

But does this mean that a year has passed sense season 5 to season 6.

The timeline of the show is really confusing at this point.

Different writers, plot convenience..., and continuity errors can become more frequent after 6 seasons.

Try not to pay too much attention to them.

Well given that a horse's gestation time is around 11 months and that Flurry Heart was conceived during season 5, it's not unbelievable.  I just have no idea what the frak happened during those 11 months.

You want an in-universe explanation? The first one can be explained by simply understanding that the fixed starting point was altered from the initial example. The second could be simple example on common conversation placing an emphasis on an aspect and excluding the outlier. When we discuss things with people in casual conversation we rarely use a hierarchy of everything that would need to be inclusive to complete a 100% accurate statement. This is not how people learn to talk, and we do not practice much more than general brush strokes when making a point or declaration. If the CMC were writing an academic article, you would have a point.

 

The actual truth is much simpler, the alternative would have made for clunkier dialog that is overly descriptive, or would not have served the purpose or intent of the scene in question. It may not be the most accurate of statements, but they aren't continuity busting ones like Granny's age.

There was a really cute head canon I saw somewhere on these forums that theorized that Starlight Glimmer had been lost in the castle for hours before she actually found the throne room, getting increasingly irritated the longer it took to actually make it to her destination. Whomever that was still has me in stitches when I think about it! 

 

As for the crusaders, they are kids, kids tend to forget or misinterpret things so its not the end of the world if they flub their past a little. If one of the mane six did on the other hand that's a different story.

Maybe the way from the entrance to the throne room is straight foward so that Starlight can get straight to it with ease, in Twilight Kingdom, Celestia go straight into the throne room even it is the 1st time she saw the Castle... Case solved   

 

About On your mark... when i was a kid, i said a lot of stupid things more than CMC so that not really OCC for them...   . I had the theory that On your mark is just happen right after CRusader of the lost mark...

Just bacause you can find one room from the front door that should the centre of the castle it does not mean that you can find everywhere.

And CMC mostly did things for cutie marks. There were a couple of times they did not but the comment was a generalization and not some definitibe fact.

 

These are not continuity issues.
