You think there were other ascended alicorns before Cadance and Twi?

So, now that we just LOVE discussing about alicorns and some of us sharing what little is officially known about them. But I've noticed something that few, if any ever asked: Did Celestia ascended other ponies into alicorns before Cadance and Twilight? If you think about that, it's possible that in her 1000 years ruling, Celestia might have ascended other ponies into alicornhood. What you think?

Ugh. Sunbutt does not, nor has ever ascended anypony. She doesn't have that power. All she did was stand there, explaining what was hapenning to Twilight, when she ascended And gave her a crown afterward.

 

Alicorn ascension works when the pony themselves turn themselves into an aliorn. Alicorn magic comes from te heart (remember the magic blob that came out of Twilight's heart and lifted her in the air?) Twi was already as powerful as an alicorn on the inside, before she physically became one. More proof- Twilight represents friendship, which comes from the heart, which makes sense why the magic would come out of her heart All of her friendship lessons grew iside her, then physically came out, transforming her into something she already was on the inside- an alicorn, inside her heart.

Magic grows inside of ponies (Coloratura's own lines "and let the MAGIC in my HEART stay true"), coupled with the magic of friendship, the most powerful magic of all, and the dispay of the 6 non-physical traits (charity, compassion, devotion, optimism, integrity, and leadership)

 

Pretty sure the same can be said for ALL ascended alicorns

 

So in answer to your question, most likely, yes

Well Starswirl did not manage it.  I doubt the post NMM in the moon period was all that good for ascensions.  Since they aren't here now they either died or left, so the evidence is not really there of one.

In the journal of the two sisters they indicate alicorns were a separate race like pegasi from unicorns and from earth ponies, but the alicorns had special royal training and extremely powerful magic even before they became royalty. Also, Luna and Celestia's cutie marks were on the tree of harmony before they got their cutie marks and twilight's cutie mark was there too and this was loooooong before twilight was even born so she was destined to become an alicorns princess and guardian of Equestria.

 

The more I read the more discrepancies I find which is confuzzling lol

I figure they completely left Equestria altogether. Celestia, Luna (and Twilight upon ascension) have been shown traversing the Star Plane. On top of this, we know magic portals are a thing in Equestria, as is magic that can teleport Ponies over great distances and even send a pony to another celestial body (i'm looking at you, Luna.).

My head canon is that there has been but they have died. Prince Bluebood could be a descendant of one of them (yes I know he is supposed to be a nephew of Luna and Celestia's but unless it is stated in show it is not canon to me).
