gaming Doom 4

Doom 4 is coming out this may, and this is my most awaited game of the year so far. What do you guys think of the game, and will you buy it?

I have played all the Dooms. Doom 4 is definitely desired for me, and I played the open beta. It's great.

I've played Dooms 1-3, but none of the side titles or expansion packs. 3 was very different, it's like a futuristic virtual haunted house you can tour...if you can survive...

 

Haven't seen 4 yet, but I'll give it a go once the price comes down enough. I usually end up waiting a while on these things.

Doom holds a very nostalgic place in my heart. I believe it was the very first video game i played on the PC. I could be wrong though -- i was five, this is 20 years ago.

I can't say I am very excited for it honestly. Unless the single player is great. The multiplayer beta wasn't very impressive to me, as it felt like it was trying to be too many things at once. I didn't enjoy it much.

I've been a DOOM fan since, well...  DOOM.  So yeah: I plan on buying DOOM 4.  I just don't know when I'll be able to afford buying DOOM 4. xD

I'll definitely get Doom 4 when I can, probably sometime in the future. I'm really looking forward to the single player campaign! I'm not a fan of PvP modes, so I'll stick to just solo & coop modes. And of course, gonna give SnapMap a shot too, try and make some new levels or modify existing ones (if possible).

 

As for previous Doom games, played 1, 2 & 3, but not RoE, Final Doom or the Master Levels. I still play 1/2 every now and again.

Maybe I'm stuck in the 90's with the series, but I have my doubts about the new one.

I played doom 1 and 2 back in the day when they were the thing to play. When I first heard a new doom was coming out I was very surprised. The graphics and visuals have completely been transformed and it looks real nice, not too much like other games. I played the open beta and quite liked it. However I did feel it was trying to copy modern franchises like COD a bit and also felt there was a lot more they could add, I know it was only a beta but some of it seemed a bit too simple. 

 

I think I will wait for it to come out and see more game footage before I buy it.

For proper Doom MP i would suggest Zandronum or Zdaemon (if you bought the originals in Steam you can use the wad files from there). Plenty of mods to keep you going, Brutaldoom getting the most attention these days.

 

As for the new Doom, single player has always been the "bread and butter", still looks good enough to give it a go later on. And yes, i played this from a floppy disk on a Windows 95 system back in the day, and renting it from the local videostore for the SNES occasionally. Good times.
