Actually, I used a recording sample of hitting a normal sized PVC Pipe, clean the noise, and made music using Garageband's sampler. Couldn't afford to build a big PVC Instrument set (which is almost like $500 or more) as of now...

So yes, consider it "synthesized".

So yes, consider it "synthesized".

Problem with that is, bending the pitch too much on an original sample causes loads of stress on the purity of the sound. When raising the pitch or lowering the pitch, it adds noise and a filtered sound along with it...it was especially evident from notes C4 and higher.
