Are Friendship Is Magic characters recognizable to non-bronies?

I was wondering your thoughts for non bronys. When they see the characters do they recognize it as my little pony friendship is magic?

Also, I think that, yes, they've become quite recognizable because of the amount of merchandise that is out there.

Well, back before I was a brony in 2012, I was able to recognize a picture of Rainbow Dash as being a character from "My Little Pony." I didn't really know specifically about Friendship is Magic, though. I just knew it was a toyline or something. I didn't even know bronies were a thing back then.

 

Although, at this point in time, FiM has gotten a lot more exposure, wanted or not, so I think they'd be much more recognizable nowadays.

When I wasn't a brony (after G4), I did see some pictures : I did recognize them as MLP ponies, but not FiM ponies.

Most people will know that the characters are from MLP, but your average non-fan won't be able to identify any of the characters by name.

I think they will know the characters but not anything specific like their names.

I can't say if that is the case in the united states or anywhere else in the world. But here in germany, i don't think so. The show here, is being shown midweek at 10:00 AM and i think nobody has time to watch TV at that time, except preschoolers. The only people in germany who would recognize them, are other bronies i think.

At this point, I think it is nearly impossible to see a pony character and not know what they are from, that being MLP, but it is getting to the specifics that probably less likely. Like character names or even the fact that they belong to the specific FiM show.

Rainbow Dash is pretty easy to spot out for non-Bronies, because she's basically the most recognizable character in the show. She happens to get the most exposure due to merchandise and advertisements too with her characteristic rainbow mane.

Besides Rainbow Dash, I doubt there would be many ponies that would be instantly recognisable to non-Bronies.

Eh, I don't know. I think pinkie pie and Twilight get more exposure than her; S1 she seemed to get more merch, but now I'd put her in third place behind pink and Twilight.

The only ponies I knew before I became a non-brony was Rainbow Dash and Pinky Pie, so yes I'm sure others would at least recognize that the mane six ponies come from mlp.
