I really think the show should continue to go in a sillier direction.

Season 1 felt like Dungeons and Dragons for little girls, a very fun concept, but it never really sat well with me next to the overly sincere themes and happy feel it always tried to convey.

Season 3 started a trend of far more sillier elements being placed in the world (such as the mirror pool and crystal empire) and Equestria Girls and Season 4 only expanded on this.

I see the Mushroom Kingdom as a very viable comparison to what Equestria is now, and I LOVE that. I feel like I'm the only one who feels that way. The world is generally far more harmless and far more interesting, there are far more limitations in what can be put in the world such as history and technology. I feel this wackier feel greatly works with the series and that's why I prefer it more.

I think it would be very difficult to introduce something that I don't like unless it greatly changes the status quo in a negative way or contrasts the silly feel we've seen so far.

Make it even more silly?

Isnt that what People hated about Teen Titans Go?

If the series would go into a more silly direction, with even more crazy characters, even more jokes and almost no little serious scenes, i think i would stop watching Mlp.

More silly, wouldnt be my thing really.  :ooh:

People hated the characters being transformed into unsympathetic morons. The series would still have slice of life as the primary focus and character development, but there would be less serious threats and occasionally more crazy adventures.

Mario and Luigi is a much better comparison if you have to compare it to another work.

Im not sure, that it was only because of that.

Im pretty sure it had also something to do with the Fact, that the Show felt more like a Parody and the serious aspects from the Original were like completely gone.

It felt way more like a Kids Show.

I think, i have heard that a lot.

I just think, Mlp is already Silly enough.

If they would start and create even more Pinkie Pies, i would seriously lose my mind. And interest.

This show has a nice balance of the two. Moments we should take in a serious manner and some moments that are definitely light hearted, balance is a delicate thing and the show shouldn't have such a thing tampered with.

Well, to each their own, and I completely respect your opinion, but I would personally hate this.  I think the balance is good now, but I would greatly welcome more seriousness.  I think that this show has created a lore and characters that are easily dynamic and real enough to support the weight of some pretty intense and emotional stuff.  They've already had a lot of scenes like that, (Amending Fences, Cutie Re-Mark, (Sombra & Dead Equestria universes in particular), ending of Brotherhooves Social, "I've Got to Find a Way", Celestia vs. NMM in Princess Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow's depression and the subsequent the climax of Testing Testing 1, 2, 3, climax of Wonderbolts Academy, Ra-Ra's performance at the Helping Hooves Music Festival, to name a few) and those sort of scenes are my favorites of the show by far.  I'd love to see more of that, and less silliness, honestly.  I still want humor, but more in the form of clever jokes and such.  It's the slapstick that I don't really care for.  (I should note that I think the show is doing an excellent job at the moment.)

Since I like Equestria becoming a very girly Mushroom Kingdom you can see that I would like the series to have sillier plots to reflect that.

That is important! I want to stress that I feel these ideas apply more towards adventure and action stories than slice of life stories. All future adventure stories should feel more like Mario and less like DBZ or Dungeons and Dragons.

Every high praised episodes of the show are slice of life type. Right now, in every episode, mature theme wins. Sillier episodes like The one where pinkie pie knows cannot stand against Amending Fences (this episode beat all of my favorite episode in 4 last seasons...). So sad, I missed some episodes like Party of One, Lesson Zero, Too many Pinkie pie, Best Night Ever... their unique humour and silliness and even downright insane make me laugh every time I saw them.

I laughed less and less after seasons... The rainbow is fading... Now! Prepare for more depressing stuff like tormenting your self, deaths, suicide attempts... ah wait... they already did lol:D

When has MLP ever shown a suicide attempt? o_O

MLP is a kid's show, and a particularly well written one at that. It would be pretty insulting to the kids's intellegence if the show ended up being too silly or too mature. If you make every episode Slice of Life/Party Pooped-ish, kids would know what you were trying to pull. The same thing applies if you make every episode a cheap copy of The Last Airbender or Legend of Korra.

Not to mention that making the show either extreme would make a lot of adult viewers lose interest in it. Look at how nobody above the age of ten enjoys Teen Titans Go. Silly Looney-Toons esque cartoons are great to watch, but it's very hard to replicate their success and their originality in modern cartoons. Even mostly silly shows like Phineas and Ferb or Adventure Time still needed a bit of character development in the middle.

Gotta say, I like it when the episode feels a little more adult or seinfeldien. Like for example, the gift of maud pie; while it was still very zany (Pinkie pie and all that), it honestly gave me a "normal" sitcom feel to it like what you'd expect from a regular sitcom comedy. (The fact that they FINALLY got rid of the MLP theme at the ending and had a different ending theme helped XD)

The sad thing is, Go is absurdly successful despite that, with its rating being through the roof. :*(

One could argue that in the latest episode Trixie's actions could be seen as suicidal. To elaborate on this at the end of the episode despite the fact that Starlight had left her Trixie decides to do her death defying trick anyway with no way out of being eaten by the manticore.

The way the show has been going it feels it's already going that way. When you introduce too many characters without working with what you got it seems to be just really silly and diluted to me. Any attempt on jokes seem to come out way really bad nowadays that I forget they ever try to put an element of comedy anymore. Even their attempt at making it serious just comes out generic and lame like Gauntlet of Fire.

Everyone knew Spike was going to work with Ember, get the Scepter and then give it to her with some mushy touchy words to go with it and in the end the dragons accept the unexpected anointed dragon lord. Would of been more unexpected for the dragons to say screw that we're going to go do whatever we want, maybe raze down Ponyville and the dragon that could cause the most mayhem is the real dragon lord.

Um...okay...maybe the Show i so predictable because its a Kids Show, which normally has to end in a good way.

And Maybe it seems boring and not clever enough for some Bronys because their overanalyze a Kids Show?

But, what do i know.

No need to overanalyze it came out pretty clear to me.

I think slice of life episodes should remain relatively untouched. I think this stuff works more towards how adventure episodes work, and even then more on a conceptual basis.

If you want a comparison to what I'm talking about, I think the adventure/action episodes should take cues from the Mario and Luigi games in how they crafted their stories.

I agree. The show should be very fun loving and not as serious, and that's what I love to see ^^

i thought the same. i can tell the bright beautiful rainbow colors in this show means it should be innocent and have lighthearted feels

I am one of the people who are actually fine with the direction that the show has taken over the years and how it is right now.

I can't say that I would actually want to see something like this happen to it.

I agree with less slapstick. (Especially to poor Spike, the brave and glorious) FiM ha progressed to the point where slapstick just feels out of place, and immature, in a progressivly more maturing storyline.

you can have those things without excessive silliness

Oh dear no. It's already gone too silly and making it even more so would probably make me less interested in watching. I would like to see some more serious episodes.
