Would anyone want an episode with Discord's powers on the fritz?

I don't care much for Discord, but i can see SO much potential with his chaotic powers on the fritz, and even he can't control it. (Poison joke prank by RD or Sunbutt gone horribly awry, maybe?) maybe he gets hiccups, and every time, a portal to an AR gets torn open, and chaos. (Good way to bring Sunset into FiM. Just have her literally pulled through, and wonder wtf is going on. Past gen cameos, too, coughToolaRoolacough)

It'd be fun trying to see Zecora come up with something to stop the chaos magic that Discord can't even control.

Thoughts on such an episode?

An episode where Discord's power goes out of control and it is up to the mane 6 to find a way to stop it, sounds like it could be pretty entertaining.

I would actually like to see something like this happen.

I enjoy a good discord episode but I think his chaos magic is the least interesting part about him. I'd like to see his dichotomy a bit more. So if the episode revolved more on that I'd be really happy.a

no. He faked getting sick, and his powers were still under his control the whole time.

Faking sickness and still being in control, and having a prank go wrong, and losing control of your magic isn't even remotely similar

As do I.  Unfortunately, he hit his peak in 'The Return of Harmony', and although he did pick up a bit in 'Twilight's Kingdom' his episodes have each been more disappointing than the last.  'Make new friends but keep Discord' and 'What about Discord' both felt particularly forced, like they were trying to trot him out to meet a quota.

 

Discord was great as a villain, and even though his reformation took up a whole dedicated episode (which is a lot more than most reformations get), he doesn't work for me as a good guy.  If he was to appear again, I'd like it to be him returning to his old ways, but of course, that isn't going to happen.

Sure. Make him comical and hilariously flawed. It may seem like a stretch on the story's behalf but a redeeming episode of Discord is needed.

Not a bad idea, but I personally think a better idea would be to have him temporarily lose his powers entirely.  Of course, they'd have to come up with a really good explanation for this, and an equally good explanation for getting his powers back at the end, but think of how interesting it would be to have him be forced to interact with the ponies as a mortal.  It would be an incredibly good and educational experience for him.

They could totally explain his loss of powers by accidentally casting a spell and only having it reflect back onto him. Or something to that effect, trying to cause one of the ponies to have amnesia, only he gave it to himself.

 

Now, he has to work with each pony as they try to teach him something not only about himself, but about how to do things without powers and teaching a lesson of friendship in the process.

 

Once he has been taught by each pony will he remember the words to the spell and *poof* he is the same old Discord, only this time, he is just that much of a better perso...pon.. Creature for it.

I think it would be more interesting if Discord was turned into a pony by the villain and lose his powers completely. That would be interesting premise and would give a message about appreaciating the things you already have. In this case Discord would notice how different the world is when he can't shape it whenever he wants.

That would be an amazing episode! Twilight sitting at her desk or whatever, then all of a sudden she is attacked by plushie sharks carrying floofzookas, then it starts to rain pancakes indoors, and then the pantry comes alive and quesadillas flood the castle! She runs in fright and ends up outside, where the houses are made of chocolate and it's raining building materials

First of all, what Sunbutt wants is largely irrelevant, because Discord is his own being with his own mind, and he won't necessarily kowtow to what others want him to do, even in 'Princess Twilight Sparkle' he didn't lift a hand (or hoof, or paw) to help, even though he not only knew exactly what was happening, but had actually caused it himself.

 

As to how they would go about doing it, as I already mentioned, they won't.  Discord has already betrayed the ponies once, the chances of them writing him doing it again are infinitesimal.

 

I'm not even suggesting that they should do it, that would be too much like repeating the events of 'Twilight's Kingdom', it's just I personally thought he was far better as a villain than he is now.

 

I have no doubt that we'll see Discord again, I'll be awaiting that episode with tight-jawed apprehension.

I like the idea of Discord's powers getting out of control, the consequences could be very interesting and hilarious.

 

The reason for this could be because Discord is "reformed." With him being reformed he doesn't use his Chaos magic as often as he used to. He once was the ruler of Equestria and could transform the world in any way or form he wanted. He can't use his chaos magic like that anymore and now his "magic container" is slowly getting overloaded, releasing bursts of magic at random moments.

 

I would love seeing Discord getting back to his roots again. He is the Lord of Chaos, spreading chaos is in his nature. Another possibility could be that his instincts are taking over, or that the "chaos" part inside of him doesn't agree with Discord being friends with ponies and tries to take control of him instead.

 

 

But what I would love to see his Discord fighting seriously. To see him unleash his full power, even if just for a moment. I would love to see him use his magic to protect or save the lives of Fluttershy and/or the Mane 6.

Thats actually a rather interesting idea. I would definitely like to see that, and could be a great way to introduce several characters.
