Sitting Alone

Recommended Posts

Bit of a random topic, but imagine for a moment: it's lunch, you're in the school cafeteria, and you sit down [if you're a luckyduck and are out of school, then pretend you're back in school or somewhere with lunch tables or something.] Are you the type of pony everypony should know person that gets oodles of random people to sit at the same table? Is the table going to stay empty, and get more-so when you leave? Are a couple of friends going to see and sit with you? Do you have an angry mob of cute girls fight over the last seat?

.

What happens with you when you sit alone, and how do you feel about it?

For me, the table stays void of all sentient lifeforms besides myself. But it's not so bad really; I'm a fairly quick eater, and sitting around and chatting is not really my thing. If someone does happen to sit down, I won't hesitate to introduce myself and make a new friend; but that doesn't happen too often.

But what do I know? I'm just a stupid kid.

I'm usually one of the last of my group of friends to get to the lunchroom so I just sit and hang out with them. We talk about everything from politics, to world history, to the dangerous life that comes with being a time cop (don't ask).

I hate to sit alone, I'd rather sit with people I don't know than sit alone.

As soon as I sit on a table, the table and me turned invisible to anyone else :(

At school I was rather the 'forever-alone' type. Not until I got kicked out from the college I got some real friends

I don't eat lunch in the school cafeteria, so this doesn't really work for me.

I know back in middle school, I used to eat alone in a corner. But then I found a group of friends, and our group was large enough to claim half a table to ourselves. So that was nice.

I'm 90% loner, and with the friends I do have, we're not so much the 'sit at lunch and chat' types. So chances are I'd be alone. but I don't really care, cause usually I'm fine with it, and don't want to talk while I'm eating anyway. That, plus, I usually get food and then just go to the computer lab to work and or browse ponies random stuff if I don't have anything to do. |'3

I sit down, I eat, then I usually leave. If people I know are there I'll say hello, but I'm silent when I'm eating.

Most of the time I don't realise that people are actually there.

Not a people person myself, and most people can figure that out. I'd probably have a good distance between everyone else and myself, if not the table.

I try to sit alone but people always come up and say "mind if we sit here" and I'm like sure because I'm not rude but secretly I'm thinking... are you people really gonna make me get up and find a new place to sit?

That's life though I suppose.

back in highschool i had my group of friends i sat with while we ate but i would jump around to different groups. our high school was broken into so many cliques it was crazy, it was fun being in the "popular" group and going and sitting with the "unpopular" group they were way more interesting and nice! Plus it annoyed all the stuck up snobs ^_^

In college now i dont really have a set lunch time ever so i usually eat alone but i do sit down at tables sometimes and end up having a good conversation with random people

During the first year or two of high school, I had a group of friends to sit and eat lunch with, but I never really talked at all. For the last two years, as well as the two years of community college - pretty much high school again with all the kids hanging around - I pretty much played the lone wolf, sitting by myself on a bench or on the grass if it was sunny and dry outside, but it has never bothered me. I always liked to imagine that I would find at least ONE person who would just "click" with me personality-wise, because honestly, if not for this, I probably couldn't think of anything interesting to talk about (I'm horrible at hanging out with random people)!

Yeah, see when I was High school people would actually sit on the previously empty spots in the table and than there were the times were other people would invite me over to their table just so that I didn't eat alone. It was quite considerate of them but I myself found it irritating.

It looks like there are a lot of lone wolves-er, i mean ponies. The way I see it, we're just too cool for the rest of those chihuahuas.

I like to sit with people. At work I'd sit with a whole bunch of coworkers and it was always enjoyable. Even if i was reading (most of the time) people know I love books and wasn't being rude or anything. In school I sat with friends most of the time too.

I always go around with two of my friends and we're always trying to find an outsider-table to sit at. We were all three more the loner or small group of friends -type before this school year, so I think we all get stressed by too many people.

...Well, I do at least.

I usually sit with my friends, but sometimes all of my friends have a different lunchtime than me, so I have to sit alone. I don't mind sitting alone anymore, but about a year ago it would have been horrible.

I don't sit with the "popular" kids, unless I know someone who sits with them. I find it hilarious to sit with them, because of their first world problems, like breaking a nail ^_^. In reality it's a small thing, but they talk about it like it's the end of the world. They never talk about interesting stuff, so I prefer to sit with my friends and share/discuss interesting stuf

This is to anypony who is reading this right now:The reason people dont want to sit with us(possibly) is because we are TOO AWESOME FOR THEM!

Well back in school I wasn't one of those "Popular Kids" I never really was one who got a bunch of friends or even people wanting to sit next to me during lunch. Normally it would just be me or one or two of my very closest friends. I am not really much of a conversationalist as it is. I am way to shy to actually be the first to strike up a conversation. Probably 85 % the reason why I don't have a girl friend yet. Eating alone/almost alone was just something that I was used to in school.

I am a very quick eater like you and don't chat alot. I also do this at the bus and in cars, that's where I am thinking xD.

I think it's ok if someone sits by me, but I don't really think about it that much. I am not very popular when it comes to the girls and have never had a girlfriend and I am not very popular when it comes to friends either. I am just a regular guy with a few friends and no enemys.

I have no problems when it comes to strangers, but I am not good at starting a chat, so if anyone wanna talk they have to start it or else I will stay silent.

i'm too shy to walk up and introduce myself to others

So i stay close to my friends and, as is normal for me, keep very quiet.

I don't sit down without finding my friends first and sitting down together. It's not that I dislike sitting alone, I hate being seen sitting alone.

I usually head to lunch with a few of my classmates that I know, but if I were to go alone I would stay alone

Although, the cafeteria tends to get really crowded, so sometimes we have to right next to people we don't know anyway
