OmegaBeamOfficial 622 July 26, 2016 Share July 26, 2016 (edited) Looking back at the premiere's and finale's throughout the show, I've noticed there were villains who I think outright deserved what they got and should not be given another chance, like Tirek (Seriously, he might as well be MLP's Satan) , and those who I think it would be cool to bring them back for some kind of redemption episode or special where they are converted from evil to good (Maybe Chrysalis) , or at the very least, don't bring harm to Equestria, as I understand the turn a bad guy good shtick might come off overused to some. I don't care how many times they do it though, since it means we've gotten to see more of Discord and other villains in a more lighthearted setting and getting to know them in the show better. Plus, hey, it melts my heart every time I see a character reformed. So there are those two types, but then there are villains who just didn't interest me like King Sombra. Well, I've put in my two bits, what do you think? Anyone else who needs to TASTE THE RAINBOW... Of friendship? Blinded by anger due to a perceived personal slight, disruptive but not deadly, and old fashioned power hungry conquer types. There is a little fluidity between these (especially when you include comics), but those with personal baggage have usually been reformed. Tirek will likely never be reformed because the writers specifically used a plot point that would have allowed him to be reformed, but turned it on its head by having Tirek acknowledge he understands friendship and brotherhood but simply doesn't care. Starlight, Sunset, and Nightmare Moon had issues in their back stories that influenced their villainy. Jealousy and perceived abandonment. Their reformations made thematic sense, though with varying degrees of success. Sombra gets weird ... cause comics. Looking at just the show and trying to ignore the comic series it is hard to see him redeemed, yet the comics laid down a way it could be done (though hopefully executed better). Chrysalis ... she is a force of nature villain similar to Sombra and Discord. She hasn't exhibited the playfulness of Discord which made him likeable. For her to be reformed they need to give her a personality that we can sympathize with. As it stands she may be reformable ... but I hope they don't. I want Tirek and Chrysalis to remain villains. Like for example Lightning Dust wants to change her ways because having her current behavior wasn't worth screwing up her chances of being a WB. Great candidate to learn the error of their ways. No, but that doesn't mean that they won't be reformed if the writers want them to. If Starlight can be reformed after almost destroying the time space continuum and brainwashing others in her reeducation camp and enslaving them into her cult, only because her best friend moved away and for no other reason, than anyone can and will be redeemed. A lot of people say this, so I want to explain why I don't agree with it. Starlight's friend leaving her gave her a bias against cutie marks, which combined with existing personality flaws to lead to the village, which she thought would lead to her ideal society. It was the destruction of her lifelong dream that led her to fuck with the timelines, and it's worth noting that she didn't grasp the consequences of her actions there. And besides, none of that matters, because she was given a second chance because Twilight COULDN'T defeat her. It was a matter of necessity, even ignoring that teaching ponies about friendship is Twilight's job description. Was Starlight turned around too quickly? Maybe, yeah. But it's not exactly absurd that Twilight decided to try, and it's not "just because she lost her friend" - that was merely the first in presumably a long chain of dominos. 3 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
