Does Rarity only sell high-end stuff?

Do you think most of the stuff in her shops even Carousel Boutique are high-end expensive stuff or do you think she has stuff affordable to those that don't make many bits? I have wondered if CB is the only high-end clothing store in Ponyville or if it's the only clothing shop in Ponyville. Obviously there are a lot more options in Canterlot and Manehattan.

Well, given what we've seen of her work, her dresses (and other outfits) seem to be very one-of-a-kind, for the most part. The Princess Dress being the exception, there's really only one other time we hear tell of someone ordering copies of an outfit and that's Sapphire Shores ordering buckets of one type of outfit for her tour. And since we didn't see her delegating out the Princess Dress to a factory to produce (and since she has those rules of Rarity that basically make factory made outfits not up to her standards), and we've never seen anyone else working for her that also makes outfits (since Sassy Saddles and the rest all tend to the store proper), there's no way she can afford to sell those outfits for cheap. Not because of the financial cost but because of the time cost.

She has three stores to keep stocked, and on top of that she has to be a well-known designer by now. Her list of feats that'd put her in the fashion-sphere's eye is a long one (designed dresses for a princess, and friends, is friends with said princess and was recognized at princess's coronation, is friendly with well-to-do ponies in Canterlot, designed wedding and bridesmaid dresses for another princess's wedding, was a bridesmaid in that wedding, has been recognized by yet a third princess in ceremonies in Canterlot where more well-to-do ponies would be watching, designs for Sapphire Shores and her backup crew, and I know there's a few others that I'm missing on top of that). If she isn't Coco Chanel levels of legendary by now, then wow is Equestria hard to please. But since Rainbow got a call out to her accomplishments (the Wonderbolts pointed out that everything she's done hasn't gone unnoticed) I have to believe that Rarity has been noticed the same way by the fashion community.

If she didn't keep the prices high, she'd have to spend most of her time like she did in Canterlot Boutique.

Though she probably holds sales from time to time?

I imagine it is mostly high end, but I would also imagine that it's the type of place that does custom work, so you could possibly work with Rarity to figure out something within a more reasonable price range. Custom work is never super cheap, though.

It's expensive because the ponies don't actually require to wear clothing and never-less have luxury attire so the demand is very low. Rarity's boutique marks up the cost because it's not a essential need by the customer but an item of lavish necessity.

I'm sure she has a bargain basket as a means to make a point or for humor in an episode in case some pony only want the frugal things in life. The thing is ponies don't normally wear clothes, the only time ponies do wear clothes is to make a statement or to show their status so there would be no need to make cheaper common clothes.

There are instances of practical clothing in the show, like galoshes, camouflage, winter wear, athletic wear, and beekeeping suits, but Rarity seems to have not done anything to that effect (look at how functional her "camouflage" in "Dragon Quest" was). Accessories and clothing, beyond those examples, seem to be fashion statements more than anything else and it makes sense that haute couture would be Rarity's specialty, seeing as it would probably be the most lucrative.

In Canterlot, this is very likely. The high end ponies there probably want a shop that sells only the highest quality and most unique stuff around. Her Ponyville shop is probably where she has more of a variety in prices. Ponyville doesn't seem like the type of place to sell only the most expensive clothing, especially since that is where she started.

Since clothes are not nessecary they all are probably seen as luxury items if they are not protecting against the elements. I do not see Rarity selling mittens and shoes and the like so her clothes are that practical. So I think nothing she sells is cheap really but I do not think they are so expencive that ponies can't but them. Those with less money just buy less clothes that are bit on the lower side of pricing.

Well… Considering that ponies in Ponyville usually don't wear clothing whereas it is doing in Canterlot and Manehattan, can we say that… ponies in Ponyville just are simpler? :) Then I do not think that Rarity makes, as it calls just with one word in my country, goods for general consumption. It is just undemanded. She works as tailor anyway. On the other hand, there is demand in other cities, but will Rarity work for it? And I don't know what about prices.
