What weird new thoughts occur to you when you rewatch older episodes?

So this last week I've started re-watching the whole series, and while I've had a lot - a LOT - of questions, there's two things that really popped out at me:

 

1. The library was built for some pony to live there. Who lived there before Twilight? What happened to them? Did Twilight become the librarian? Did it matter? (I can just see Twilight handing out library cards though.) If she was, is she still technically the town librarian like Princess Twilight Sparkle, Ponyville Librarian? Since I'd imagine the biggest library is now in her castle, and she doesn't seem the type to deny ponies access to books, but someone needs to keep an eye on libraries. Also she considered all the library books hers. Technically many of them belonged to Ponyville. Or did they all become hers because she moved in there?

2. So anyone else remember in the dragon migration episode how Spike got a letter from Princess Celestia that no one got to read?

 

What if that was the first note telling Twilight about her brother's engagement, and he hadn't actually forgotten to tell her after all? Since Canterlot didn't seem to be under lock down for very long before the wedding, so there was definitely some time before he didn't have time to let her know. So maybe he thought he'd covered his bases but the letter got wadded up and tossed in lava.

 

small edit to add a 2.2 to this - was Celestia Cadence's wedding planner? Cos she just sort of decided who was making her dresses, putting together her reception and some of the entertainment, and etc.

Well was always wondering WHY Celestia nd luna abandoned the old castle or why the heck it was out in the middle of no where to begin with. Oh and it apparently having secret passages to evil books which frankly Celestia probably wouldn't have forgotten about.

 

 

IN Winter wrap up it said they never got winter done on time but the Slice of life had that one mare say she was the town orginzer. ha she did poor job at it apparently

I think the reason for the castle being out in the forest was because of the tree of harmony, so at least that answered one part of the question. I've always assumed Celestia abandoned the castle 1. because her battle with Luna left it in tatters and 2. it broke her heart to be there, since she and Luna had catered it to themselves with all the pranks and such.

 

Though it does open up other questions - like the Reflections comic line they had Star Swirl's super special secret lair under...Canterlot castle. Not the one in Everfree. (Though from what I understand the comics are assumed to be an alternate universe thanks to changes of that nature.) 

 

And I too thought that about the town organizer. She was so proud of herself and sounded so put out but like, sweetie, you weren't doing a good job anyway, maybe you should explore other aspects of your cutie mark.

When Twilight looked back in time when Luna first became Nightmare Moon, the castle was a lot bigger and there seemed to be huge buildings around it, suggesting there was a city where the Everfree Forest is nowadays, and Luna/Celestia used to rule from there. This makes sense, since it is a good idea for them to consolidate their rule where the Tree of Harmony is, meaning that any villain had to get through them first before harming the tree.

 

So, if the Everfree Forest didn't exist back then, and there was a city there, what happened to the city? How was the Everfree Forest created, and by who? Was it more of Discord seeds that destroyed the city and became the Everfree Forest? Or did Celestia fight another villain inbetween Luna's banishment and the show start? Did Celestia accidentally create the Everfree (Ok, probably not)?

I have been waiting for a librarian epsiode for Twilight but nope. It would be fun if she neened to hunt down a pony that has not returned a book or help someone to find something like a lost book or book that has been written in some other language. Or just a joke in other epsiode. But nope. If season 3 had been a full lenght one there is where this kind of epsiode would have fit the best.

I just noticed that Cadence took her hair down during Twilight's coronation. (It was up in that weird style of the royal crystal ponies in one scene...then entirely down the next time we see her.) When she and Shining Armor came running up the aisle like they'd just been outside that ceremony room and Cadence has a completely different hair style, it kinda makes you wonder.

The animation style and quality. The early episodes like season one and half of season two about, there is a difference in the brightness/saturation of colors. It is very noticeable when you compare them.
