  1. I think overthrowing Crhrysalis might've been a very bad mistake that will only get realised some time afterwards. As far as we've seen, regular changelings and changeling queens are different, and a changeling queen is needed for the species' reproduction. Currently, The only changeling queen is Chrysalis. If my assumptions are correct... Then Thorax and the other changelings might've locked themselves in a path to extinction unless they can convince Chrysalis to return to the hive. Heck, this might be the sole reason Chrysalis might stop and be reformed!
  2. Yay. Now let's celebrate by reading more cynical forum posts about how Starlight Glimmer is the worst thing in all of existance and how the show is going downhill!
  3. What if the reason Celestia looked so bored at "No Seond Prances" and never spoke on screen was because she already was replaced, and Twilight didn't notice rhe oddity because she was really worried about Starlight not showing up? EDIT: I forgot to add three words that made it so my comment made little sense.
  4. The episode was 10/10 until they reformed the entire changeling hive in less than a minute. But it's still a solid 8.5/10. What I actually wanted them to do was to have Thorax's suggestion of sharing love be proven impossible by Chyrsalis and Starlight having to defeat her not with friendship, but good old cleverness and combat. Also wanted for there to be a moment where, after Starlight and Discord regained their magic, they get too carried away and end up demolishing the hive. And then we have an emotional scene where Chyrsalis blankly stares at the demolished hive as changelings fall from the sky around her, while Starlight and Discord sudenly realise they're slipping back into their villain personalities as the now-freed captives stare with wildy differing reactions from being completely unfazed (Luna, Shining Armor) to horrified (Fluttershy and Twilight). I think there should ahve also been more characters on the team, such as- "Uh... Quibble?" Sorry. But even I knew that was just a dream, the writers would never do something like that. But then at first, I thought that was the direction they were going from some of Chyrsalis's lines ("You don't know anything about changelings, or what it takes to be their queen!" I was at the edge of my seat). But alas, the ending happened... Can I rant for a second? I'm not normally one to dislike an episode because of a single part of it, but I really, really disliked how they dealt with Chyrsalis. Seriously, she KNEW that Changelings didn't have to starve?! Well, so much for my theory that Chyrsalis was never really evil because she had to attack the ponies to feed her hive, and was simply too overambitious for her own good. Can we have a SINGLE villain that doesn't have "gain more magical/political power for myself because screw everyone/pony else" as their motivation? Nope, they end up making her into a self-absorbed tyrannical ruler that lets her race starve because she is against our protagonists, so she has to be undisputably evil! Also, the reformed changelings... Ugh. I thought they would just gain Thorax's sparkly wings, and I would be completely satisifed with that, but nope, they all turned into... Bug-Pony-Deer like somethings with a color scheme that fits right in with badly made OC's and low- quality toys. And Thorax just plain doesn't look anything like Thorax anymore. Atleast when other characters transformed, even with Rainbow Power, you could atleast tell who they were. I wouldn't guess that was Thorax if they didn't make it so obvious by having him first turn alone. The huge size with the royal look doesn't suit him at all (Even though I'm kinda glad we finally have a male ruler on the "good" side)! He was a good character because he was so awkward and meek, always feeling like he didn't belong. Turning him into this ruler figure just plain looks wrong. Ok. Ok... I'm done. As for the rest of the finale... PERFECT! The back and forth between Discord and Trixie was great, Starlight internally freaking out while trying to keep the others from freaking out, The scene at the beginning... ish where Starlight freaked out and Trixie has to escort her away with her great and powerful smoke pellets (Also, I love the little hint of what Starligt may be going thorugh, She cast the exact same spell she did back in the Season 5 premiere when everypony surrounded her), Trixie's "I'm just a simple performer!" freak-out, Thorax being so confident about his ability to navigate the hive and then going "We're lost.". Anyway, maybe I should look at the reformed changeling designs later after I get some sleep, hopefully I'm just exaggerating because of lack of sleep. EDIT: Corrected spelling errors, added a funny bit (Atleast to me)
  5. Twilight's completed her character arc, and there's no direction for her to go, since she's already powerful enough. She's a princess, she's excellent at magic, and now she's a not bad teacher. If we push her too far, she might turn into a copy of Celestia. Besides, the last season finale was 85% Twilight alone, and she had a sizeable chunk of the story over at season 6 premiere. I for one, actually would love if the show slowly headed for other characters other than the Mane 6. I feel like the more lessons they learn, the more "uninteresting" their character will become. Too much character development can be dangerous, especially in this fandom, where apperently one repeating the same mistake even once after being taught a lesson is impossible and ruins a character forever if done. I think more non-mane 6 ponies could be focused on for the next season, like the CMC, maybe an episode for Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon (What happened to them? They got reformed... and now they're nothing more than a bunch of background ponies), And more (No one strangle me please) Starlight Glimmer. Though, that's coming from me, the guy that thinks MLP would do better with a new generation of characters entirely after season 7 or maybe 8. We already have enough filly characters to have a 15 year skip and have another bunch of interesting characters to focus on. Plus, it would keep the show from running out of lessons.
  6. I believe her advanced weather control is her mixing unicorn magic with pegasus magic, since alicorns have both. As for her other abilities, I think it's her cutie mark. We have seen over and over again that some ponies have special abilities that are tied to their cutie marks (Cadence's love spell, Fluttershy's ability to talk to animals, Shining Armor's city-wide shield spell, Rarity's gem finding spell, Starlight's equality spell, lots of others), which no others can use (Twilight's special ability is to copy other spells, so she's an exception to this rule). This dreamwalking could be her special ability. I think the whole "Nightmare Moon" stuff is something unique to alicorns or their magic. But that's just an opinion because there's no evidance. (Though, if the Elements of Harmony run on the same kind of magic Alicorns use, Equestria Girls might be evidance since the transformation of Human Twilight and Sunset Shimmer seemed to have messed with their personality a lot, and their physical appearence had some key factors similiar to nightmare moon, like the wings, the darker color scheme, etc. Human Twilight even started using a new name when she transformed, like NMM (Midnight Sparkle). And what did they use? The power of the elements of harmony! But then "Does Equestria Girls even count?)
  7. I was going to respond to you, but then I realised that:1. I wrote something WAY too long, 2. I completely derailed off of what I was talking about. I think what I was writing about is better fit into a theory thread of it's own, once I write a little more and clean it up. But I will just say this... You notice interesting differences and similiarities when you compare human villains before and after magic powers to the show's regular villains with powerful magic...
  8. I'm pretty sure Twilight, Starlight and Trixie all did enough to justify being imprisoned for life. But then, that wouldn't be much fun, or in the spirit of the show, now would it? It didn't seem to catch Twilight's problems or stop her from casting the "Want It Need It", which appear to have been partly created by the school in the first place. But I guess then you could argue that they don't teach that kind of spells to regular students and that Twilight's problems and spell arsenal are both exceptions because of being Celestia's personal student. But then that questions "How good of a teacher could Celestia be if she didn't notice Twilight's emotional problems or really do much to stop Twilight from using the spells she teaches whenever she wants?". ... Which wouldn't have anything to do with my original statement but still a question to ask if that's the case.
  9. Midnight is, at her core, Twilight. And she can't exist without Twilight, either. I'd think that's motivation enough to save Twilight from Gloriosa. Also, since Midnight is a part of Twilight's mind, I have a feeling Twilight could reason with her. After all, Midnight Sparkle isn't exactly out for world domination, her motivations are to understand magic, something that Twilight was also interested in before being scared out of it because of Midnight in the first place. Midnight could've been like Twilight's personal Discord that nobody else could see, not really on the side of good, but will help Twilight specifically (Kind of like for half of his reformation, and arguably still to a really small extent, Discord was only being 'nice' to the others because of Fluttershy).
  10. Disagreeing with anything about MLP is now illegal unless you explain your reason for disagreeing with an atleast 500 word explanation which then must be mailed to your nearest Thought Inspection Centre and get a Seal of Unstupidity from a proffesional from there to confirm that your opinion is not completely moronic. Also there are now Thought Inspection Centres and Thought Inspectors which will be picked from the smartest of bronies. That should stop most of those pesky brony haters!... That would also be a brony fascist goverment, wouldn't it?
  11. Every moment with magic-crazed Gloriosa (Has anyone made a villain name for her or are we just using "Gaia Everfree" or "Gloriosa"?). She was actually one of the best villains in the show. She wasn't just fighting for more power. She was a good person, but magic twisted her mind and goals. You know what would be my favourite part if it happened? Twilight, instead of just destroying her "Midnight Sparkle" part, accepting that Midnight will indeed always be a part if her, but also that this doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing, coming to an agreement with her "evil" part. And then she turns back into Midnight Sparkle. "Twilight? What do you think you're doing!" "Twilight? I am... Midnight Sparkle! And I'm just saving Twilight from you. Believe me, I will not hold back on you like the others!" And then she blasts Gloriosa into the ground. I'll be honest, I've always wanted Midnight to be this sort of another being made of Twilight's desires to use magic that is only loyal to Twilight and far more needlessly destructive. Also, there would be hilarious dialogue oppurtunities for Midnight and Twilight arguing inside Twilight's mind. Also make it so Sunset can hear them as well and sometimes responds to Midnight, forgetting the others can't hear Midnight.
  12. As we've seen in the movies multiple times, Equestrian magic used by humans who don't have a special connection to Equestria (Or maybe the Elements specifically?) tend to have... Odd effects. It corrupts humans, completely destroys their moral compass and makes them obsessed with their initial goal for using magic. For example; Twilight wanted to learn more about magic, but when she gor magic-crazed, she was willing to tear the entire world apart to understand ALL the magic. My question is, what would happen to you if you got corrupted by magic? As when you're corrupted, it makes you obsessed with your greatest desires with no care for anything else, so it might be interesting to imagine such situation.
  13. I'm pretty sure I would go through a pretty bad freak-out upon realising there aren't any computers and preety much any gaming thing from the last 3 years in Equestria, and then I would bury myself in magic to fill that hole in my daily schedule and heart.
  14. Griffins can manipulate the weather too (Atleast, they can stand on clouds. They probably trade more advanced control over weather for more brute strength, since both Gabby and Gilda seem to be almost as strong as an earth pony), which leads me to believe that anything with wings also can, including changelings and dragons (Why can't Spike do it? No wings!) Zebras also probably have a similiar connection with the earth that Earth Ponies have, since Zecora lives deep in the Everfree forest (Altough their powers may be more suited to the wilderness and mystic natural magic than farming and brute strength, which would make them more singular and more free spirited than ponies, which would explain why we haven't seen a zebra nation in the show yet). I'm basically only going off of Zecora for zebras, but that's all we have. Tirek's species can use magic like unicorns can. Dragons also seem to have some magic with their fire breaths (Whether Spike is a special case or not, I don't know, though I think he isn't an exception, but simply Twilight levels of magically gifted among Dragons) (Again, going only off of Tirek for his species) There are most likely other species that can use magic like Unicorns, meaning they could likely raise or lower the sun too, or maybe a magi-tech machine to do it on a schedule, but none of this is canon anymore and I'm just rambling... So none of the pony race abilities are really unique. But, then, Alicorns... They are the reason the pony race seems to be OP, because: 1. They are powerful enough to do magical feats that would take loads of unicorns to do (Raise-Lower the sun/moon) and they also just normally break the balance by having all three pony race's abilities. Using the sun as a weapon wouldn't be feasible to an all unicorn nation because of the sheer amount of time and power they would use rendering them defenseless aganist their enemies, but Alicorns make it possible. 2. They are beacons for the pony races to unite under. Alone, the individual pony races aren't any more powerful than the other nations (Pegasi alone aren't really better than Griffons, for example), but united under a common ruler they can all accept, their strengths cover their flaws, and with Alicorn leadership, Equestria becomes a global power. If any race is OP, it's Unicorns, because we haven't seen much replication of their abilities yet.
  15. Let's see, what would it be? Hmm... Okay, A map, with a pin holding it up, right next to a quill and a piece of paper. It would symbolise my passion for maps and writing, and, when combined, Alternate History.
  16. My only goal really was to kind of tack Equestria onto North America because I thought it fit really well. Making this was actually the moment I went "Welp, I am now a brony" and officialy joined the fandom. Some interesting bits: 1. Chernyrossiya: This place was, in this timeline colonised by the Russians around the same time as Alaska. They didn't sell this land like they did Alaska because Equestria wasn't interested and there were far too many Russians to just leave. After the Russian Civil War kicked off, the Tsar escaped to their North American lands, and the people celebrated his arrival. After the USSR was founded, North American Tsardom was officialy recongnised by all North American countries and the Tsardom of Chernyrossiya was founded. 2. Borealia: The lands west of the Northern Divide was declared as a different colony than Canada by the UK and later got their independance. Nothing special. 3. Meshiko: After the Spanish conquered the Aztecs, they marched north to attack Equestria, thinking it would be just as easy. It wasn't. Keep in mind that the only human country Equestria knew of was Spain. The spanish were driven out of North America in an embarrasing defeat, and until other colonial empires did their own exploration in the area that people would believe that the Spanish goverment discovered and got defeated by colorful horses that could talk and use magic. Later on, this land was sold to Britain partly due to Celestia not wanting to govern land too far to Equestria and partly to establish friendly relations with London. 4. USA: During the Thirteen Colonies era, the American settlers established surprisingly friendly relations with the Griffin Kingdom. Later on, due to the large amount of Griffin volunteers and mercanaries participating in the American Independance (More than all pony kinds combined despite Equestria offically supporting the US), Griffons and Americans would be forever linked (Griffons are used instead of Eagles in all places where Eagles are depicted In our timeline) 5. Due to Equestria supporting the USA, the US can't justify attacking them and Manifest Destiny instead happens towards the North and South, which results in that tiny "Dominion of Newfoundland & Labrador. 6. Greenland & Iceland: I'll admit, I had no idea who to give them to, so I made them a single independant country. 7. The map is so close to our tineline because Equestria was incredibly isolationist, which made it so they did little diffrence in Global Politics until around 1800 (Translation, I didn't want to make too wild). Any questions from anyone? I'll gladly answer them!
  17. This being repeated over and over again is really starting to become annoying... So, people think for some reason Sunset's reformation is better? Let's see what happened to Sunset; She got blasted in the face by a rainbow, did a 180 spin on her personality, and suddenly turned from spiteful and jealous to crying and sorry in 3 minutes. After that, suddenly she's the definition of good, a perfect angel that never makes any mistakes, and mistakes that she looked like she did was always for the better and ended up helping somehow, and she's just misunderstood and noone wants to forgive her, oh, and SHE NEVER MAKES ANY MISTAKES. And then in the next two films, the other six fail both times and she ends up saving the day by herself, and succeds in it because she never makes any mistakes and the writers need to hammer in the fact that she was reformed. People don't just spin around like that. If a person has gone most of their life using magic for everything from getting out of bed to making friends, they are not going to stop doing that just because someone told them not to once. She was never taught that mind controlling others was a bad thing, and you don't just completely change someone's habits and personality. It's been demonstrated clearly before that using magic to solve a problem with her relationship to another is basocally how she solved problens most of her life, so I don't see the problem. This, in my opinion, is not a flaw, but a strength in her reformation that she shares with Discord (Who everyone adores despite having done worse than Starlight repetedly and actually turning on the mane 6 once).
  18. You know, my personality basically 99% points out to me being a unicorn, and even with the fact that unicorns are my favourite, when I try to imagine myself as a pony, pegasus wings somehow just... Fit better. It just feels more natural to me, for some reason I haven't been able to figure out, even though I am the last person you would call "athletic" or "competitive", and value creativity and intelligance (And the internet skills) more than anything physical. Though, if I WAS a pegasus, I probably would be one of the most earth-bound pegasus in all of Equestria.
  19. Favorite in terms of most convenient? Teleportation (I mean, wouldn't it be convenient to be able to instantly get somewhere without walking an inch?) But the one I'd want in my life most if I couldn't go with teleportation (Because it's such an obvious answer)? Starlight's expanding shield thingy that pushed ponies around her away. You have no idea how many times I wish I could do something like that.
  20. I would like it, mostly because he's like the only villain to act that smart (Besides Starlight) and perhaps to star in an episode with Starlight (Because In my opinion they were doing the same thing for diffrent reasons), but it likely won't happen. Most of the time, when a small "villains" return, that's because they had a unique personality and design that is both fun and can be put into more interesting episodes, like Flim&Flam and Trixie. Gladmane just doesn't have that uniqueness, he's more along the lines of Lightning Dust, one-off character to be the enemy of one of the Mane 6 for just that episode. Another thing is, how would they even return him? What do you do with a character like him? The most you can do is ha e him own another business and bring that down too, but that's too repetitive.
  21. If you pay attention during the fight, Twilight had to shield like 3 or 4 hits while Starlight had to only put a shield uo for one (I counted before, just don't remember at the moment). Since Twilight spent more energy shielding attacks, she got exhusted quicker. Also since Starlight probably has more experience with combat magic, she was probably more efficient with her magic, too. Honestly, looking at how bad Twilight fought and how much needless energy she wasted, it makes sense that she would get tired at the same time as Starlight despite having far more raw power.
  22. I don't think episodes like that would be as special of the map called them to fight a giant threat to Equestria every five episodes.
  23. It is probably to make Thorax stand out, as others said. But, it wouldn't be fun to not look for in-universe answers, so I'll share my little theory on how changeling hives may work: When a changeling is under the command of a changeling queen, the color of their magic changes to their queen's color to indicate whose hive they belong to to other hives (If there are any other changeling hives, that is. Chyrsalis may very well be the only one left). So because Thorax ran away and is no longer under Chyrsalis, his magic isn't green! Why is it blue? Well, um... Because... Reasons.
  24. I don't think anyone other than the Mane 6, Trixie, Sunburst and the ponies who live in [insert Town Name Here] know what she did. Even if there were ponies who knew about her... exploits, "Hey, there's a pony who used to rip ponies' cutie marks off, maybe she knows a thing or two" wouldn't be much of a motivation to seek her out.
  25. When Twilight looked back in time when Luna first became Nightmare Moon, the castle was a lot bigger and there seemed to be huge buildings around it, suggesting there was a city where the Everfree Forest is nowadays, and Luna/Celestia used to rule from there. This makes sense, since it is a good idea for them to consolidate their rule where the Tree of Harmony is, meaning that any villain had to get through them first before harming the tree. So, if the Everfree Forest didn't exist back then, and there was a city there, what happened to the city? How was the Everfree Forest created, and by who? Was it more of Discord seeds that destroyed the city and became the Everfree Forest? Or did Celestia fight another villain inbetween Luna's banishment and the show start? Did Celestia accidentally create the Everfree (Ok, probably not)?
