A long time ago, in the times when Equestria had just been founded by the three tribes, a mining operation had begun in the capital of Canterlot. The goal was simple; find as many gems as possible. And maybe, when all the resources were depleted from the cave, turn the mine into a warehouse, or basement for the royals. However, shortly after the mining operation began, some of the workers found an odd crimson red gemstone. It was nearly the size of an entire pony, and had a very weak magical aura surronding it.

Naturally, they took the giant gemstone from it's foundation, and carried it back. There, it was put in a storage crate, and later stolen by some Diamond Dogs. Then it was pawned off to some Griffon Merchants, where it was believed to have disappeared, but surprisingly appeared a short time after Discord's reign over Equestria had ended. It then was sold to a rather wealthy family in Manehatten, who kept it in storage for years, and generations later, now present day, had decided to donate the gem to the Canterlot Archives.

The plan was simple enough; When the Pegasus Carrage arrived, carry the crate with the gem into the castle, where it would be studied and put on display. But, lady luck was not kind to them that day. When it was carried inside, Unicorn professors were dying to study such an odd gemstone that dated back to Equestria's founding, and was found right there in Canterlot. Eagerly, they began pumping magical energy into the gem, trying out all sorts of spells to see if they could get a reaction, testing the gem's properties.

Suddenly, the gem began to do an odd thing; It slowly began to swell up, and even began an odd inflating and deflating motion. The shadows on the walls seemed to get sucked up into the gem, and began to encase the gem. The gem's pumping motion sped up, as the Unicorns backed up, unaware of what to make of the situation. Never before had a gem done anything like this. It was fascinating... And also terrifying.

Suddenly, the gem exploded. The Unicorns quickly shielded their eyes, and as they opened them back again, they amazed at what they saw. Along the walls, an odd black substance was splattered, as if a filly tossed a black can of paint carelessly all around the room. And seven odd gems were lying on the floor. Each one in the shape of a perfectly symmetrical heart. However, as one of the Unicorns reached for it, the black substance jumped from the wall, and began to surround each of the gems, and one by one began sinking them into the ground, till it also left, leaving the room empty, clean, and without a gem.

This event was quickly reported to the Princess, who quickly started a search for the missing 7 gems. And a reward was quickly issued out. 5000 Bits for each individual gem. This began a search across Equestria, with many ponies looking high and low in hopes of finding one of the gems and getting rich overnight. Many 'gems' were found. Unfortunatly, none were real gems, and were instead cheap knockoffs.

Eventually, the hype died down, and a year went by, with no signs of the gems returning. Many looked back at it as a fond memory, and chuckled about how hyped up they were to find them. Others looked back bitterly at all the time they had wasted looking for the damned things. Some others claim that the entire event was orchestrated by the Equestrian Government in hopes of distracting the intelligent ponies not yet brainwashed by the evil tyrant Celestia's corrupt rule. The reward still stood, though only the few insane still pursued it.

Thankfully, that just happens to be who our story focuses on. Last night, six ponies who were still pursuing the seven gems woke up to find a letter right next to their bed. The letter was a crumpled up piece of paper, and scrawled on it quickly in black ink was a rather simple, yet chilling message. It simply requested that if the pony reading the letter cared to find the rare gems, and to have all of their dreams come true, to go to the center of Murky Bayou, a dark, nasty swamp filled with giant trees, located south of Hoffington. And to get to the center of the swamp by midnight of that night, and to go there completely alone.

Obviously no sane pony would actually listen to this request. After all, what good could come from entering a deadly place at night all alone? Well, the promises of fame and fortune can make even the most level-headed of mares do ridiculous things...

So yeah. I haven't really RPed on this site yet, so why not begin RPing here with a bang, amirite? I'm really excited to do this RP, and I hope you are too! Below are a few rules that apply to this RP however, as well as some special commentary and tips and such provided by me.


1. This RP is gonna be a somewhat advanced one. And I want the posts to be advanced too. Now, I'm not gonna kick you out or shun you if you accidently misspell a few words, or if you don't write a novel. However, I do expect to see good English in your posts, and at least a two paragraph minimum each post. If you think you might be able to squeeze out enough words to make that, then this might not be the RP for you. If you laugh at how low the minimum is, and you're also counting all the grammar errors I make in this post, then welcome aboard!


2. Due to the planets all lining up perfectly today, due to some odd cosmic force, all Alicorns that are not Celestia, Luna, and Cadence will be instantly disintegrated by the forces of the planet Pluto. Due to this, it is advised not to join as an Alicorn, unless you really want to get annihilated by the once-planet.


3. Don't be afraid to mix things up. If you see a few Unicorns joining in this RP, why not mix things up and be a Griffon, or a Zebra? Not really a rule, but don't be afraid to have your character mix things up. In a good, canonish, non mary-sue way. If your character is a British Griffon that loves a good game of chess, awesome! If your character is the hidden fourth pony race capable of magical powers beyond comprehension and can easily wipe out all life in the universe and can also survive a punch from Chuck Norris, not awesome.


4. As of right now, there is currently a six character limit, including mine. However, I'm currently debating on whether or not allow a seventh character. So I recommend that if you want to join, go ahead and post your OC, or ask to reserve a spot if you want to create an OC specifically for this RP. If you do the latter, you'll be temporarily reserved a spot. If you have not created an OC within 24 hours, or you have created an OC and it was rejected, the spot is open and up for grabs. Do not count on me opening a seventh slot, or there being a spot open when you're done typing. So don't be afraid to reserve a spot for the character sign ups. ; )


5. Obligatory no Power Playing or God Modding, blah blah blah, odds are if you're down here and interested in this RP you know the basic rules of one and I shouldn't have to go into detail here.


6. Oh yeah, when submitting your OC, ask yourself these questions to check if your OC might pass or fail; Is my OC's description detailed? Are they a three dimensional character? Are they unique, and cleverly designed? Does my OC have flaws? Is my OC's page clean and free of errors, blemishes or boils? If yes to the above, then your OC has a good chance of getting in! Is my OC an Alicorn? Is my OC 'The Best' 'The Greatest' 'The Most' in anything? Is my OC's backstory and Cutie Mark out of place in the world of Equestria? Does my OC have any sort of relationship with a canon character? Is my OC's page short and simplistic? Does it have lots of grammatical errors? If yes to any of the above, then your OC has a good chance of being rejected.

Alright, while your character's page is a bit bare bones, there's really nothing wrong with it. Your character is pretty good, so congrats, accepted!

Sorry, but I'll have to reject this one too, mostly for the same reasons as I rejected Calirolls. Plus, a lack of Cutie Mark, though its established in the series that all ponies eventually get their Cutie Marks when they grow up, is a bit against canon. And your character's info page is quite barebones.

Sorry, but I'll have to reject this one too, mostly for the same reasons as I rejected Calirolls. Plus, a lack of Cutie Mark, though its established in the series that all ponies eventually get their Cutie Marks when they grow up, is a bit against canon. And your character's info page is quite barebones.

You remember my first avatar, right? I wanna know if he sounds a bit out of place for this RP...

No, he'd be fine for this RP. The main things that usually make a character out of place are mainly things like WMDs, grenades and other advanced weapons, robots, hi-tech stuff, things that wouldn't really fit in with the show's setting, as well as overly grimdark back stories. Dark is fine, but when it gets extremely dark, it just wouldn't really fit in this RP.

 

Though would you care to join? We have three slots open and begging for users! ; )

Um... sure. I've done a bunch of RPs before, but this is my first advanced one - which is what worries me b/c I know you're looking for advanced RPers so I want to know if I may be a hinderance towards you.

Psht, don't worry. With what you've got on you're characters OC page, I'm sure you'll be fine here! Just write nice clean posts with plenty of details and you'll be A-OK!

I would, but unfortunately, Pluto still believes it Alicorn season. And due to that, and the fact that I like your OC, I just can't accept it for safety reasons.
