Pinkie, Fluttershy, and Rarity would use emojis, and Rarity would probably only use the ones she didn't think were crass or crude.

Twilight might use a smiley-face emoji and a couple others but not use any she thought of as demeaning or rude, same as Rarity. So she'd only use the various smile emojis, including maybe the cat ones as well. She'd probably correct herself and flip out if she ever made a mistake. Pinkie Pie would probably use punctuation but not so well (like forgetting commas and such) and she'd probably put multiple exclamation points and question marks in all the time. Fluttershy would probably forget periods a lot and finish with a lot of smiley emojis and hearts, but again, she'd never touch the poop emoji or any emoji that could be construed as offensive depending on the context. She might also use "u" instead of you once in a blue moon.

 

I can kinda see all of them using emojis, but trying not to be rude. Applejack might not use them at all save for a smiley every once in a while.

Rainbow Dash would use slang in all of her messages while Rarity would insist on being grammatically correct with her statements. Pinkie is sure to use emoticons and nothing else while Applejack would struggle with trying to figure out how the thing works. Twilight would use it more than everyone else since this would be right up her alley, yet Fluttershy would be the odd-one out. She might use the internet or she might not depending on her attitude towards it.

This is a curious question. On MLPF I type closer to how I talk in a normal casual setting with little emphasis on style or even grammar (very similar to how I use chat sevices). On another forum I'm crazypants formal. In business documentation and emails I am formal or a hybrid of business formal and casual depending on the audience. In college courses I dial that formality up to the point of near clinical OCD.

 

I wonder if any of the characters would be that particular?
