How long do you think the movie will be in the top box office rank?

Some movies claim number one for two or three weeks in a row. Do you guys think this pony movie will rank in first for any number of weeks, with other competing movies having more impact to claim and hold onto being box office #1?

I don't know. It goes up against Blade Runner which I think will be a much bigger overall draw for the casual adult crowd. And you cannot discount Kingsman since the first one was a pretty good action comedy... again, the whole casual adult audience thing. I have no doubt MLP will do well... but it is going to mostly attract the fans of MLP, the parents bringing their kids to see a film and possibly the curious or bored who have already seen the other films. Much of your casual adult audience I am sure won't be that interested in it. I would of course love to be wrong since I think it would be both awesome and hilarious to see MLP rule the box office for any amount of time, even if just a week.

 

Again, I do think the movie will do very well... and I honestly feel it will be a good film, but I am not expecting it to rule the box office or set some amazing grand records here. I know a lot of people will be watching that alone, and using it as a testament to how good the film is without watching it (OMG.. IT WAS NOT #1... IT SUCKS!), but that simply is not the case. How well a film does in the box office does not tell anyone how good it actually is.... (Transformers 4 anyone? *Vomits*)

 

This goes right back to a post I made about setting expectations too high... so high the film has absolutely no chance of meeting them. If it pulls third in box office and is a great film and makes plenty of money, I will be more than happy.

The MLP movie is going to be successful since Hasbro is putting a lot of effort into it given the voice cast, directors, and so forth being brought on for the project. However, I don't think it will end up being number one in the box office or even in the top five. I'm not saying that I think it will fail, but rather it will be up against some fierce competition. It's being released at a time when a few blockbuster movies are also being released and that is going to make things difficult. MLP will make money that will satisfy Hasbro but it won't be breaking any records or anything along those lines.

There's no guarantee it will be #1 at all. Admittedly, I don't know much about Blade Runner or Kingsman, but if they're being mentioned here, then I'm guessing they could be a threat. A much safer bet would be that it will be the #1 animated movie. The only other animated movie coming out around that time is the Lego Ninjago movie, which opens a couple weeks before the MLP movie, and I'm not sure Ninjago is popular enough to beat MLP once it opens.

I doubt it is going to get to be number one in the box office in general, let alone for multiple weeks.
