ManaMinori 4,145 May 16, 2017 Share May 16, 2017 looking back at the Journal of the Two Sisters (and Hearth's Warming Eve episode), we get to see that before Equestria was founded, there was a kingdom of the unicorns, which was governed by King Bullion, and his daughter, Princess Platinum- there was also a kingdom of Pegasi and a Earth Ponies. Do you guys suppose there could also be a kingdom of Bat Ponies (which were said to be discovered in mountain caves AFTER Equestria was founded)? I belive so seeing as they are technically their own race of ponies however they could be a minority like alicorns or just too dangerous to be written into history. On the flip side they could have been found acting feral (like bats) and then they adjusted to civilization which is more likely as no bat ponies show up in the show except the night guards in a few episodes. They are just labeled as Pegasus with bat wings. I would have thought by now the show would have kind of done something with the idea, but as of yet they don't seem very interested in expanding upon them. Ganondorf8 11,369 May 16, 2017 Share May 16, 2017 Bat ponies are essentially Pegasus ponies but with a different style of wing and have a connection with Luna as seen way back in Luna Eclipsed. I'm surprised that this has been their only appearance excluding the three appearances of Flutterbat--though that was due to something else entirely. If anything, they either just live amongst the other Pegasi or they have their own community somewhere in Equestria that no one other than Celestia and Luna are aware of. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
chaosprincess 1,067 May 16, 2017 Share May 16, 2017 (edited) Well the mystery of them has already been solved according to Lauren Faust who was in agreement with M.A, Larson's stand on them is that they are a separate race entirely so they are not ponies at all they are their own race and they reside deep in the mountain protecting Luna's palace. Faust's MLP is not the MLP we are watching, and has not been for 6 seasons. Opinions on Twitter and the like from people no longer involved with the show are pretty much the same exact thing as fanfiction. I am not saying it is not possible... however, until it actually is answered in show (or maybe in the comics) it is all opinion. Hell, Luna does not even have a palace (as far as we know)... she resides in Canterlot. Steve Piranha 29,432 May 19, 2017 Share May 19, 2017 The closest thing from show-canon (as this is also a loosely canon content), is that the bat ponies are a different race of ponies who live outside of Equestria, and the bat ponies who pulled Luna's carriage in Luna Eclipsed, are the only known bat ponies in Equestria. She recruited them after she saved them from a dragon shortly after the Mane6 saved her from Nightmare Moon.
