spoiler Is the "reformed" changeling design evolutionary?

Ever since the Season 6 finale it seems the show has purposely tried to get rid of these dark hole-filled changeling designs, and after "To Change a Changeling" even the outlier, Pharnyx changed to the new design (albeit a little darker than the others) But here's something I noticed:

Unlike the changelings in the Season 6 where it seemed after seeing Thorax change into his new form, they just went "Oh yeah lets transform that sounds awesome" almost like it was their choice. However in the episode Pharnyx expresses his love for the hive and they return their appreciation for him and then he transforms. There was no pressure from them saying they'll only appreciate him if he changes form, they were ready to accept him as he was.

So that raises the idea. I don't it's that the show wants to say a changeling can't look like the old design and be loved, because once a changeling is loved they physically can't keep the old design and naturally evolve.

Long story short it's not Conformity, it's Evolution.

I like the changeling's new forms, one thing I wanna know is why some have crystals on their chest and why only Thorax and Pharnyx have antlers?

Antlers instead of crowns perhaps. Symbolic of alpha. Also I notice some changelings don't have unicorn horns and others do.

All things that interact with the world exert a force. All things that exert a force have an opposite and equal force. Ergo, nothing immaterial exists [because where would the opposite force be without material as a medium?]. Ergo god doesn't exist immaterially. Also if the universe were infinite itd take infinite time for a god to make it. If it were finite it'd be subject to entropy. Which means an eternal god can't exist.

Maybe it are different species of changelings.

To be honest, I didn't like their old forms because they all look the same and don't seem to have their personalities and identities. In their new forms, I can at least learn their names and faces and might even strike up a conversation with them.

At least Pharynx kept his darker colors. After all, he was more concerned about the Hive going soft than about appearances. As long as he can protect his hive, he's happy.

I think Pharynx was worried that the hive might be going soft, I think Thorax and Pharynx can help the hive be peaceful but defensive.

That's what I was getting at! I may not appreciate Pharynx's attitude, but I want to see him protect those he cares about!

Yes, Thorax can teach the Hive be peaceful while Pharynx teach them defensive. And Thorax can help Pharynx calm down and relax, he does a good job, but, needs to relax.

It seems to be gender. Males have the crystals, females don't.

I hope that's true because I envisioned Changeling Will Guide's final form having white crystals in his neck! As of this episode, he still looks like the picture you see over there to the left, only his wings are shiny after a significant event in an earlier Season 7 episode. Due to his circumstances, the way he'll get his form is different from the others.

Well, I for one can see evolution as another form of conformity. What, ya don't get a choice in the matter and you can't stay what you've spent yer whole life gettin' used to? I'll grant, at least they look more individual now, but what? Black wasn't a color option before, huh? What, everything good in this world has to be indoctrinated into the multicolored pastel world? A change of mind has to mean a complete overhaul and we don't want these ugly bug-things buzzin' around? Huff, they're bugs and they should stay bugs.

The show even took a jab themselves at how rediculous Thorax's new antlers were! Though... granted, good to see antlers getting represented in the show's world. Those're a pretty big symbol among ungulate species. I'm kinda stuck on believing that all those transformations were rushed out last minute like no changeling got a choice in the matter of the story. Though, somebeing do tell me how you'd even describe the new forms, they look more gelatinous then insectoid now. While mostly indistinguishable, at least before they had a unique species design. Now they're just... globby chimeras. And I usually like composite creatures!

Feh... I don't get to change species on a whim...

Beatings & Salivations Everybeing!   Creativity is something blatantly important to me as is no doubt evidenced by the 28 OCs I have posted here of the some forty plus I have, they're linked altogether at the bottom of my About Me page in my Profile & I would deeply cherish anything you wish to say about them! Among which of those I am proudest most of is my Draconequusona, His/My Ask Thread  and my Hydra, Gallimaufry or "Mauf" and their own Ask Thread!  Either way, sufficed to say, I am quite confident I have more OCs than you! Crazier to! Do You have a tatzelpony?! No, I rather think you don't! Hew-Hew-hew!
