Appeal

Dear friends/ponies/Bronies/Pegasisters!:icwudt:

Soon to be the premiere of the film, which I am so much looking forward to. So I would like to address all fans with an appeal.

If you are a real Brony and you do not want to harm the movie and characters that you like or maybe even love, please do not watch the movie online only at the cinema. If enough people regret the money for a movie ticket, it can not be a box office success. Effect? There will be no further parts, and the future of the show may be sad. I know I am writing here a lot of obvious things but many are willing to watch movies for free. At least in this case, let us restrain ourselves from this temptation.

Thank you for reading the post. Have a nice day!

No. Hasbro did not pay me for it.
:D

Sorry if someone has already posted a similar post about it!

Agreed. We should support the artists for making entertainment we love.

This gives me another idea... @Hierok

If you absolutely can't drive to a theater and you MUST pirate the movie to watch it, I'd recommend that you at least pick up a few bucks worth of pony merchandise (if any is available) to show your support for the franchise. Also, maybe if bronies located in countries that don't get the movie sent in letters to Hasbro, they might give a wider international release if they do another movie? Just a thought.

If you're in the United States, Britain, ETC., though, there is no excuse. PLEASE support the movie guys. Besides, aside from a convention going to a late night showing might be the only surefire opportunity to meet other bronies that you ever get. If you're scared of being considered weird, don't be, adults go to see kid's movies all the time. If you're really concerned about being seen, you're probably within an hour's drive time of another theater that's showing it, I used to drive that far to watch movies all the time when I lived in a small town. It's a once in a lifetime experience, enjoy it.

Not that I disagree, but I don't think MLP would die because of that. :P Nevertheless, you're right.

RIKI'S WALL OF TEXT: The Movie Post
TL;DR VERSION IS AVAILABLE AT THE BOTTOM

For Hasbro, one of the main purposes of that film is to advertise the new line of toys. There are maaaaaaaaaaany new characters, locations and such, so there are tons of new toys to buy- they were advertising these even before the movie's premiere. Either way, the show itself is a huge advertisement for Hasbro's toys. Let's not forget, that Hasbro is a company, that makes toys, not a movie studio. So with that being said, there are maaaaaany other ways to support this merchandise. ;) Buying just few pony figurines is a much bigger support for them, than going to the cinema to watch a movie, because the toys are more expensive, than a single ticket. Besides, not everybody is brave enough to go to the cinema for a movie like this, especially 'closet bronies', who don't have anybody to go with and/or prefer to keep it as a secret. :P

Personally I'm not going to the cinema for few reasons (but I'd gladly go!), so I guess I'll just better watch it online. However, if I'd bump into a physical copy (DVD's etc.) in a shop, perhaps I'd buy it (if it would be in a reasonably fair price), even though I'd probably not even use that disc. It's been ages since I used these, as having digital copies of games, music etc. is more common nowadays I think. :D But the physical copy on the shelf would look nice, so I'd buy that just for the collecting-purposes. I'd gladly buy the whole DVD collection of the show (,which also probably would end up just being on the shelf :D) , but these aren't cheap! :adorkable:

Either way, I keep buying the pony merchandise, so from my side, they've got and still get the support. There are sooooo many things to buy, that I wish I had a cheat for unlimited money.:D  I think it doesn't really matter what exactly you'll buy- as long as they get profit from that merchandise in general, they'll keep it alive. The only difference is, that the part of profit either goes to the shop, cinema, or other things, where you're buying things from/paying for services. Even if most of ponies would watch it online then a part of them would buy toys related to that, it still would be a success for everybody, including all of those animators and such. Even if the movie itself at first look would partially fail to get attention in cinemas, it still would successfully advertise the toys, which would encourage Hasbro to keep making/ordering these, so that everybody would be happy.

Poniverse's Equestria.tv gives the fanbase a chance to watch the episodes in their streams. That brings the same problem you've mentioned - people can watch these online for free, so the owners of TV channels gets less viewers, thus less profit, which may eventually lead to it being removed from the station, which will hurt Hasbro. Real bronies should watch these on TV and/or buy all the DVD discs instead, which would be the best solution in regards of support. UNLESS Equestria.tv actually bought the licence from Hasbro and pays them accordingly for that service.

To be honest, if I wouldn't have a chance to quietly watch MLP online out of curiosity, I probably wouldn't bother to search for more legit ways to watch that (especially buy this), thus most likely I wouldn't get hooked, which of course would result in me not buying anything at all. I do feel bad for not actually paying for the show itself (maybe it will change in future, as I mentioned before), but at least they still get some profit from my side. And when I say 'some', it doesn't mean 'a little' (like "yay I have two figurines"- I have much more stuff than that). :derp: Same will happen with the movie- even if I'll not manage to pay for it directly, I'll probably buy some merchandise related to that.

Regardless of what I said, you're of course right, though some ponies may have troubles with that. :P

TL;DR

You're right and I agree, but watching online isn't completely bad, as it still works as an enjoyable advertisement for their toys. :P

NOTE: It's not a hate comment by any means!
Just to make it clear, even if something seems to be at least a little bit offensive towards anything I have mentioned, it actually isn't. :twi: Poking anything wasn't my intention. Besides, I may be wrong with what I've said.
Generally you have good intentions, @Fluttershy Friend and you are right. :) I just said what I said, because I know, that I'm doing wrong, but at least I'm supporting them in other ways, which I hope, that they're good enough. :twi:

Oh so big (too big for me:lie:) wall of English text. You have some good arguments Riki. But I still thinking that the movie box office disaster will be the absolutely end of any eventually future movies and will be a much or less problem for future show episodes. I know any movies which would be continued after financial disaster in cinemas.
