SkyPie 261 November 29, 2017 Share November 29, 2017 I don't know why but I find myself cringing at most MLP moments in the newer episodes these days. And then I'm like, there's nothing wrong with these scenes. Why am I cringing? Maybe because the dialogue is unnatural? I have no idea why. I hope I'm not alone in this. Anyone got an explanation? 5 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGqB-NX9rzU
Guest November 29, 2017 Share November 29, 2017 It may just not be your thing anymore. Personally I couldn't have been happier with season 7.

Crystal Peppermint 1,108 November 29, 2017 Share November 29, 2017 Well some episodes are cringe worthy, so no. You're not alone. Example: The Episode where Spike trys to sing the cloudsdale anthem.

For example, I cringe at all the parts in that Gala episode with Discord when the CMC are chanting. And those times when they recap something that happened previously through the dialogue. 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGqB-NX9rzU

I found myself cringing at most of the dialogue in the MLP Movie, does that count? SparklingSquirrels 21,345 November 29, 2017 Share November 29, 2017 Yeah, the same thing has been happening to me. I'm simply not as interested in the show as I was back in 2012/2013 when I first started watching. It's normal for your interests to change, so it's perfectly fine to feel this way . As long as you're still enjoying the show, then don't worry about it. But if you feel like you're not enjoying it as much, then take a break from it for awhile and come back to it later. That's what I did about a year ago and it really helped! 2 ֍֎֍֎

Hierok 11,831 November 29, 2017 Share November 29, 2017 I only crinch at moments which are forced or just really awkward. But I can imagine other scenes be crinchworthy too. 3 If I don't understand something or Interpret it wrong, I'm dutch. Sometimes I gamble for meanings of the words. And sometimes I write the wrong words, like week and weak for example. Sorry for it already. Foxy Socks 2,599 November 30, 2017 Share November 30, 2017 Sometimes I do, and I don't watch the show much right now unless a new episode is out. I still love the show, but it's normal to change interests. 1 My OC: https://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/foxy-socks-r9861
Jade The Pegasister 383 November 30, 2017 Share November 30, 2017 (edited) To be completely honest the songs this season made me cringe, actually since season five really LOL I’ve been cringing at MLP lately, too and might I also add the episodes from season one to three actually seemed a lot less cringy (in my opinion) so i completely get it That’s why I watch older episodes sometimes because they seem a lot less funky Edited November 30, 2017 by Jade The Pegasister
Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,577 November 30, 2017 Share November 30, 2017 I don't see it the same way. If anything, the older episodes have more cringey lines and odd delivery in my book. The newer episodes, minus some very bad exceptions, have better pacing, better writing and as a result, season 7 is my favorite thus far. I wouldn't say I am as hugely obsessed with the show as I was when I began watching it, but nobody has to be obsessed with something all the time to be a fan of it.

What are your 'newer' episodes? Season 5-7? The writers keep changing during season 5-7, some of their writting styles didnt fit you, some dialogues feel clunky compare to other seasons, some moments feel awkward (mind you, earlier season had many cringy moment as well). I think the true culprit is the dialogues, especially they are written by some newbie writers, there nothing wrong behind the idea of the episodes (that why you feel there nothing wrong with the episodes) but some dialogues somehow feel forced and expository may put you off. Is that what you feel? Correct me if i am wrong.

Them's Seeing Ponies 282 November 30, 2017 Share November 30, 2017 (edited) 13 hours ago, Pink Feather said: Yeah. I guess it was the unnatural dialogue. Season 1 also had unnatural dialogue to an extent, but there was a kind of charm to it that endeared the viewer. Seasons 5-7 have less of this charm, so the unnatural dialogue that does show up feels much harder on the viewer. The verbal humour has also degraded to an extent, from the fun, quirky wordplay of the Faust and Renzetti days to very weak and monotonous dry humour during more recent seasons ("that was better than the first eleven times", "seriously, all of them [the books in Twilight's library]", etc. all have the same basic gag at their root and that gag wasn't funny the first time it was told), which may add to this effect. Steve Piranha 29,428 December 1, 2017 Share December 1, 2017 There are some dialogues that I cringe, but I ignore them shortly afterwards. I do feel like I've lost excitement for ponies however, but maybe it's because this is a post season hiatus where nothing too exciting is announced in forever, AND, with the movie and the season 7 finished a day later (the remaining of S7 was leaked the day after the movie night premiere), I may feel a little burn-out. But I'm desperate for big pony news, other than it's cancellation 1 Sig by Discords
Drunkfrank 1,125 December 1, 2017 Share December 1, 2017 Very rarely do I cringe at MLP, if anything, earlier seasons were more "kiddy" and thus more cringy, but even then I almost never did. Season 7 has been very natural and the most real the show has been. Sounds like you are just growing out of it a little bit and are nostalgia bound for thinking earlier seasons didn't have unnatural dialogue.
