This is the list of characters that the show used but didn't bring back in a looooong time! Some have been demoted to BG characters, and some don't even have that!

Lemme know if you have anyone to add!

Here's the list that have been demoted to BG characters who are on the verge of joining 'the bench':

I'm actually surprised that Sheriff Silverstar is on the list. Did he not return in the episode about Trouble Shoes?

No, the village you're thinking of is Starlight and Sunburst's hometown. Equal Town was completely different!

You know. TV Tropes has a system of sorting Characters. The main list I think you should look at that is revelant to this topic is the "One-Shots" list. Most of the Characters you listed "on the bench" were so because they only appeared in one episode with a major role.

There's a bullet point list of criteria on the One Shot page. they follow that determines if/when they move up to Supporting role. Once they're on supporting list, they can't really fall back "on the bench" at least not by their standards.

Now, I'm not trying to debate, I'm just leaving these links here for your perusal.

Basically in my books, Characters are never "rejected"; they just remain one-shots at worst.

Nope. Sugar Belle is coming to Ponyville 3 days a week to shop for baking supplies with Mrs.Cake so their's no need for Big Mac to deliver that supplies to her anymore.

I want Gilda to legit come back, no more of these off-screen mentions "Gilda told me this, that, etc." A real come back. They're constantly jacking off to Trixie, surely they can throw her a bone too

Add me to to that list. Truffle/Truffles hasn't been seen since the very ending of "A Hearth's Warming Tail" in S6. Back in the early seasons, he was a pretty common BG pony, which is why I picked him for my avatar.

I think only characters that have been established to have a reason to be reoccurring should be included, a lot of these are just clear one-offs, like Cheese Sandwich.

I know we did see Cheerilee in the latest episode, but I feel like she can be added to this list as well, because not only does she barely appear in the show nowadays, when she does, she isn't even given a speaking role.
