Exactly how big is ponyville?

So what exactly is the size of ponyville?

Are there any Earth comparisons that would be helpful for me to understand the size of Ponyville for now?

Funnily enough, Ponyville kind of reminds me of the town I'm currently living in.

It's small, has less than 1000 residents, but is actually larger than Ponyville, at around 41.79 mi².

So, if Ponyville were to register in the U.S., it would identify as either a town or small village.

I wish we had some aerial surveyers/architect bronies here. They could figure it out with just a few screenshots and the power of math.

Not really sure but I would say about 20 km accross

I have heard that it's about 1 mile (2kilometers?)

Why do you think it's as big as you say?

About 12 miles.

Not very big. It would probably register as a town. Fewer than 1000 residents I estimate. Maybe a mile long.

Why would you say only a mile?

I have heard it could be about 12 miles?

Why one.

That is not 12 miles. At most it's three, judging by how most of the town fits in this one shot, and that about three miles of distance can be viewed of any given area due to the curvature of the earth.

About 12 miles.

Don't know if it counts but I've seen the mock-up model of Ponivile from the Legends of Equestria from the birds eye view and it's pretty large.

Another clue is that the town has its own dedicated railroad station. It wouldn't even have it if its as small and unimportant as you say because why bother build it otherwise.

Not sure. Seems like it's outside of town limits. Even then, it shouldn't be that big. Maybe another half square mile of farmland, at most. There's only four ponies to farm it.

True about the four ponies.

But have you seen it?

It looks alot bigger than just half a square mile.

Unless I just csnt think of half a mile off the top of my head.

5 acres = 0.0078125 mile. So this shot would be around a .08 mile. Does SAA look bigger than this? Does Ponyville look bigger than this?

Image result for how big is an acre visual

Also, you said ponyville might be 12 miles. This is 15 miles long.

I dunno. Ponyville buildings are smaller than regular houses. So I think the whole town could fit in less than one mile.

You think Ponyville could fit in that 660 by 330 box you posted?
