Snow and Draco found a secluded grove in the forest where they would be alone for the time being.

Tricis lead Jade and Pad to a wooded section near the hotels. They were close to where Rose was training, but it was up to her if she wanted to join them. She reached into her saddlebag and placed three metal spikes on the forest ground that were slightly smaller than her hooves all set up in a row. Then she turned around to face the two ponies.

"To answer your question, Dynamo, no, your aura can't help you dodge, but it can help you survive if you get hit. That question lets me know that you all have a lot to learn," she said.

Jade watched as Tricis laid the spikes on the ground. She tilted her head, not being familiar with these devices being used in training.

"What will you be teaching us this morning?" she asked.

As they made their way over to the wooded section near the hotels, Dynamo nodded at the response that Tricis had given him. "I think I understand what you mean. Some of the attacks Ray had seemed like fatal hits. I can't argue that you're right. I have a lot more to learn if I'm going to be ready for these fights in the future."

I'm guessing by the spikes, it's a group training exercise."

Frostflame realized that Draco wasn't coming, but proceeded to wander the forest alone anyways. Cutting down any bit of vegetation getting in his way with his sword. All he could think about was how Tricis managed to figure him out. Tired of cutting down vines and branches he climbed up a tree, and began jumping from tree to tree, before coming across a clearing. He sat in the middle of it, and listened to his surroundings, before attempting to channel his magic.

Tricis blinked slowly and waited for Dynamo to finish asking his question. "One thing you're going to have to understand is that I'm a very crotchety old lady and getting asked a hundred questions at once doesn't do wonders for my mood," she explained. Pad had been asking a lot of questions lately, usually related to things Tricis would have explained on her own.

"Still, it's great that you want to learn," The pink unicorn said as a light breeze rolled over the three of them. "Today will be a simple exercise in manifesting your energy." She closed her eyes and a light blue glow swelled around her, then she opened them again as the aura stabilized. "You've seen this before. What I'm doing right now is channeling my magic through my entire body instead of just my horn. This energy was within me already, I didn't create it. Your aura comes from your magical well, and with the proper aptitude, you can train it to do incredible things. Magical energy is what makes the strong strong and the fast fast. Acrobats use it to jump. Performers use it to emote. Fighters can use it for all manner of things."

Tricis stopped and brought up her right front hoof. The blue energy around her culminated into a tiny, marble-sized ball at the tip of her hoof, so bright it was almost white. "Concentrating it into a single point can give you precise control over its effects. Observe."

She placed the tip of her hoof on one of the metal spikes, then lifted her entire body up until she was doing a hoof-stand on one hoof. Her hind legs were up in the air and her left front hoof was folded to her chest. She stared down at the metal spike. Her hoof wasn't touching the spike at all, she was balancing on the tiny ball of light. 

"Don't be shy. You two can try it as well."

Rose heard voices and hopped into the trees while blending into the shadows of the leaves. She was curious what the three were doing with the spikes. She was hurting from balancing on the branch, but kept still.

Jade watched intently as Tricis demonstrated her technique. It was similar to the one she had used in her match yesterday, but instead of channeling the power into her legs, she would have to focus into one point.

She sat on the grass and took a deep breath. She raised a hoof and began to focus intently on it. Her leg began to glow, the power flowing into her hoof.

Dynamo frowned as it seemed Tricis was annoyed at his constant questions. "I'm sorry about how I ask so many questions. It's just I'm really curious and I want to know as much as I can. I always try to be prepared to the best of my abilities." He drew circles in the grass as he looked towards the ground. He suddenly looked up as Tricis was glad that he wanted to learn. He felt slightly calm as a light breeze washed over him. The wind lightly moving his mane. He didn't understand what was going on, until the coach's eyes glowed, while a a blue glow enveloped her. His eyes glimmered in fascination, while he nods and listens intently on her lesson. 'I guess that's how Ray was able to focus his attacks on his hooves for speed and power.' He thought as Tricis balanced her hoof on the tiny spike. "That's really cool, but it seems tricky. I guess it takes a lot of practice." He muttered to himself, before he was offered the chance to try the training.

Dynamo nodded as he went over to the tiny spike on the ground. He took a deep breath, before placing his hoof upon the spike. He lifted his entire body up until he was doing a hoof stand. He closed his eyes and tried to concentrate his magic on one point. He grit his teeth as he didn't feel any magic and promptly fell over on the grass.

After regaining his composure, Dynamo sat back up and shook his head to gather his bearings. "Yes ma'am and I'm not going to cry. In all honesty, I was surprised that I couldn't get my magic to work." He walked up to the small metal spike and placed a hoof on said spike. He performed a hoof stand and closed his eyes to concentrate on balancing. He tried to feel the magic within his body envelop him like Tricis had just did earlier. Soon enough, he felt a small marble of light was forming under his hoof on the spike. However, the marble of light was becoming unstable and exploded from under his hoof. Dynamo was shot away from the two and rolled on the grass, before coming to a complete stop. He laid on the ground and was a little dazed. He wasn't hurt, but was more embarrassed and frustrated at what was happening. He groaned, before raising a hoof and slamming his hoof to the ground.

"I don't understand! What am I doing wrong!? I'm trying to concentrate and focus, but I can't get my magic to work. It's either I put too much magic into this or too little. I can't find a balance, so I don't waste my magic." He grit his teeth, but sighed and looked up towards the sky. "I know, I know." He says as he felt Jade or Tricis would tell him something. "I just feel like I'm not going to be strong or capable of anything. I've lived without being able to use magic for fourteen years. Then I gain my cutie mark and magic. For five years, I've had to learn and practice what some unicorns would know in their early years. My mother helped me in learning the basics. The light spell, levitation, teleportation if I can figure out the distance correctly, the laser spell and a shield. However, you've seen what I was able to do yesterday. I put too much power into my attacks and even then, it wasn't enough to hurt the opponent or get me the win. I even had help from a friend I met when I moved to Ponyville. She helped me in learning some things like being able to fly and other spells, but I can only use those spells for a short amount of time."

He felt a breeze roll over him as he felt like he was complaining. "I'm sorry for venting, complaining, or asking so many questions. I'm not trying to get pity or a pity party. It's just..." He stayed quiet as he didn't know how to put his next questions into words. He felt like nobody, not even the coach or his teammates would understand. He wished his friend was here to be there for him and help him out. "It's just what am I able to do? I've heard that a unicorn's magic is only as strong as their cutie mark. However, my cutie mark is a video game controller. I love playing video games. It makes me feel like I can be like those characters in the game. Even so, how does that relate to my magic? When I got the invite, I tried to study the spells that some characters used in video games. If it's possible in a game, then why can't it be possible in the real world? The basic properties and spells are just about the same in theory. Even my friend told me that it could be possible. That's how I was able to use those spells, but it's like you said, coach. I used so much magic when performing such spells. I don't even know how to sense energy, or even if I have an elemental magic, if there is such a thing." He sighed as he sat up from his lying position. "I just want to improve, but I feel like...I'm letting the team down. It just feels like I'm leagues behind everyone else who uses magic. I know this practice lesson can help, but what more am I able to do?"

Draco sighed as he awoke walking towards a secluded area of the forest. He just listened to the birds fly and the wind blowing through the trees. He just stood there listening to it all and letting the wind carry him somewhere.

Rose Sat down on the branch and continued to watch them as she also tried to focus her magic to her hoof, if she could, there might be a way to make a brace without draining her time quicker. She was able to wrap her hoof in shadows,  but couldn't hold it for long and had to let go before she drained  herself.

"Don't have everything figured out? Tough. You're out of time. Ponies who you barely had anything to do with have decided to put you in a situation where you need to figure this out or die.

You're not fighting for yourself any longer. No. If you lose in there, you arent the only pony who's going to be killed. Do you understand that? And if you still don't think that sounds important, then by all means, spend your time complaining about it instead of working to fix it.

You're going to have to find what motivates you and focus on that to bring out your potential. You don't have time to ask questions anymore. You need to act.

Dynamo lowered his face, so that his mane covered his eyes. He had a blank expression as Tricis went on a rant. He knew what she said had made sense, but was this supposed to motivate him? 'I know I'm not fighting for myself, but try telling that to the others, who seem only wanting to fight for themselves.' He gripped the grassy terrain with his hoof as he was getting more and more frustrated. He suddenly became still as the coach told him to find his motivation. "M-My motivation?" He had an idea of what he was fighting for. However, he felt that he was starting to slowly figure things out. 'I don't have time to ask questions anymore? Very well, then. Asking questions is helpful, but sometimes it gets you nowhere.' As she told him to stand on that spike, Dynamo slowly got to his feet and walked over to the object in question.

The blue unicorn got into a hoof stand on top of the spike and closed his eyes. He tried to remember what the coach had been telling him. He wanted to yell back, cry at being told the harsh truth, but he couldn't. He didn't want to. 'I have to concentrate on what's important to me. Once I do, then I must commit to this all the way to the end. Even so, what am I committing to anymore?' He remembered Jade telling him that it was the coach's odd way of caring, so he had no room for complaining. He tried to think of what motivated him. He started thinking of all the games he played, all the characters he had met in his life. He remembered gaining his cutie mark, his magic and finally moving forward in his life. He then started to think of his mom, of his friend that helped him, his old master, who taught him the art of gaming. He thought of Jade, of Rose, who both treated him with kindness. He then thought of both Frostflame and Draco. While they weren't as kind, he knew they were a part of the team. He then imagined Tricis and Selene, who he would promise to meet her in the finals. Lastly, he imagined his father, who helped him to laugh when times were tough. He knew his dad would always be with him and he didn't want to let him down. Not now and not ever. 'I know I'm afraid, but I have to remember who's been with me all this time. I've made it this far after such a struggle. I can't just walk away and give up on myself and those that believe in me. They helped me to become who I am, so it's time I show everyone what I can be capable of!'

Dynamo soon began to feel a surge of energy. He felt himself become enveloped by a blue glow that swirled around him. He felt as if he was being bathed in the warm light of energy around him. He felt a small, glowing marble of light manifest itself underneath his hoof. He had a calm look upon his face, but he had managed to do it. He winced slightly as he thought he felt a sort of energy around him. It was two right in front of him. 'A-Are these energy signatures from both Jade and Tricis?' He wondered as he kept his balance on the spike. "How am I doing, coach? I-I think I'm starting to get it." He says with uncertainty in his voice. He hoped he was getting better, but he didn't want to assume. He felt as if his energy was circling the entire area around them. He didn't think he had a lot of magic, but he felt like he was starting to understand the control of his magic.

Tricis nodded in approval at Pads ability to balance himself. Though she wasn't going to congratulate him yet.

"Good. Now we'll hold this position for two hours." She said in a matter of fact tone.

Jade didn't react, but she showed no sign of disagreement. She was used to staying upside down for hours as part of her training.

She judged by Dynamo's silence that he'd managed to perform it as well. She was glad he could manage to focus this hard, it meant he would be a formidable fighter in the coming hours.

Dynamo almost moved slightly from his hoof stand at Tricis mentioning that they would stay in the pose for two hours. He took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, before regaining his balance. He could feel a sweat trickle down towards his nose as he stayed upside down. This training would test his control and concentration of his magic. He was starting to get the lesson, but he wasn't planning on giving up now. He decided not to say anything until he was told otherwise that the time was up.

Frostflame opened his eye when he heard someone approach "Draco, you took your sweet time." He stayed sitting, facing away from him "This old mare may be powerful, but she's foolish. She sends a courier to fight a skilled assassin, though... I don't want to fight you. So I'll give you the choice, either stand against me, and die like all who had before you, or sit with me and we can talk this out." Frostflame pauses "You wanted to know why I'm like this, why I don't care for anyone, and why I sound grim at times." Frostflame unhooks his sheath and tosses it to the side. "I will tell you, come closer, take a seat."

"yare yare don't sound so egotistical," Draco stated as he shrugged. "This is such a waste of time," he stated as he looked around. "Let me guess your family was disgraced in someway? Maybe killed?" Draco asked the pony as he just laid onto the grass. "I've heard it before in my guild," Draco stated as he fumbled through his pack once more. "And they got their heads cut off," Draco stated simply as he found what he wanted...A flask.

"I'm no hero, far from it, I've robbed ponies of their belongings and lives if needed, but my family did not deserve this." Frostflame pauses once more "I use to run with a gang of assassins and outlaws north of Whitetail, known as the Shadow Lurkers. Its how I made my fortune and name in Equestria. Though when my wife had our son... when I looked into his eyes I knew it was time to stop adventuring. So I abandoned my gang, and built a home out in Unicorn Range. Eight years passed, and they found me... wanting to punish me for leaving them. I defended my home to the best of my ability, but there were too many of them. I was fatally wounded, but that wasn't enough for them. They began... to burn my house. My son would have been around your age, had he survived." Frostflame plucks some grass and watches as the wind blows it away. "Time passed, I recovered, and I got my revenge, but it still won't bring them back. Had I known this is what they would of done, I'd of never join them." Frostflame pulls out a pocket watch, on one side is a photograph of his family, he then puts it back away. "Though you probably don't care about my stories." Frostflame gets up to retrieve his sword, keeping it in its sheath. "And I don't expect you to, I'm just answering your question."

Draco looked at Frostflame with a deadpan look. He shook his head as he gulped down afew swigs of apple cidar and stated "Do you know how many times I've heard that when I was in the guild. Ponies would say their tragic backstories and say you don't know how much I've lost....As if that's an excuse to linger on the past," Draco stated as he pulled out a necklace of diamonds. "tell me have you heard of a process of making diamonds,"

Tricis' ball was marble sized at the tip of her hoof, while Jade and Pad were both balancing on larger balls with inconsistent shapes. It was difficult to concentrate on what Tricis was saying while they tried to balance. "This is about honing your skills, I'm not trying to tire you out before your fight."

Jade was barely listening to Tricis. She was only aware that she was talking.

She mostly heard her breath, listening to the air moving in and out of her body at a level pace. She was attempting to lower the size of her orb by focusing wholly on it.
