Beauty and attractiveness come in many different forms; there's nothing "sick" about being able to recognize one such form where others might not.

Most heterosexual men find female parts to be attractive. (Big breast for example.) I am turned off by that, but certain eyes or hair would turn me on at first, but personality second. (Rarity's eyes, mane, and personality all make me find her to be sexually attractive. )  That's why I prefer to get to know someone before I know what they look like. So I don't just skip them because of something as stupid as their hair.

Wonder how many people here actually think yes but are saying no?

All of them except for @Admiral Regulus, who had the most legitimate-sounding reasoning beyond not strictly finding them attractive.  I don't find responses such as "eww," "gross," "they're cartoons," "they're animals," or "they're cartoon animals" any more convincing or genuine or valid than "they've got cooties!"

But why would you find cartoon ponies attractive? I mean if your not into animals that is... I can see the argument of liking their character but purely based on their appearance?!

Are you implying that  I'm lying about  the fact  I'm  attracted not to cartoon ponies?

I haven't felt this offended since I read "Thor".

I'm offended that you're offended!!!1!  And it's entirely possible that you're lying to yourself. x3

Yes. Why wouldn't I be attached to a drawing that has no voice, no personality and isn't even a member of the same race as myself?

I don't think you meant "race."  That comes off as meaning something else entirely.  And do you watch the show with the sound off?  The ponies of MLP are entirely speech-capable; and better at it than a lot of humans.  They certainly do have personalities.  Have you seen the show?  Or simply stared at a still image at length?

They don't have voices. Their voice actors do. And their personalities is something the writers came up with. They have nothing.

Also race and species is basically the same thing.

I don't understand the question?  For the same reason a heterosexual male might find a female human attractive; though there isn't really a "why" to it.  I didn't need to sit down and make a list of reasons to find Rainbow Dash attractive.  I saw Rainbow Dash and was attracted to her.

So you want to tell me, you've never had a crush on/fallen in love with a fictional character?

I kind of don't believe you... Not in any movie, book or any other work of fiction have you had a crush on a character? How is that even possible unless you are asexual?

Well, you are now attracted to trees. And if you claim you aren't, you're just lying to yourself. See how easy and stupid it is to claim what other people are and aren't attracted to?

They open their mouths and words (that form comprehensible sentences) come out.  That's called talking.  So, then, would human characters portrayed by human actors not have personalities?  How about any characters in literature?  You're simply words on a page to me and an avatar (which I assume is not a photographic of you from life).  Do you have a personality?  Is the personality you mean to portray in text genuinely your personality?

So my species is Caucasian?  And my race is human?

And just like the ponies they have no real personality.

I'm myself. If I would create a character and   pretend to be him, then no. And my personality online is not the same as offline. I tend to be a lot nicer online. But that's just because I have time to think before I posts.

Okay, you're right. I blame the fact that english is not my first language.

Some trees are beautiful.  They are aesthetically appealing.  And if I were upset at the mere implication, I'd be quite silly indeed.  Also, how do you feel about these trees?

Also, facetious exaggeration in my original post.  I wouldn't say it was bait, but it would certainly have served for it.  But then, members of this community are easily and quickly offended.  And some go absolutely out of their way to make the very notion of being attracted to anyone other than a human female sound utterly repulsive and unthinkable.

Yes. I have had a couple.

You know, their personality, their looks and the fact they're real.

While the you seated in front of your computer (or what have you) might indeed be yourself, mightn't your online personality be considered a character that you invented for the purpose of communicating online?

Okay, you're right. I blame the fact that english is not my first language.

I honestly couldn't tell.  I've come across plenty of people whose first language is English that don't fare as well.  I just assumed you were bending meanings for the sake of argument.  *Shrugs.*

If you are attracted to certain looks and personality and get crushes based on that, you don't get the same feeling towards fictional characters just because they aren't "real"?

That is weird to be honest...

There are plenty of humans who aren't especially real.  And I don't even know for certain that you are real; nor can you know if I am real.  As far as I know, you're an avatar and text on a screen.

I think many of them are. I've confessed I formed sort of a crush on Fluttershy very early in my days as a brony. She has a lot of traits I find attractive: demure, long haired, quiet, gentle, motherly, compassionate.

Rainbow Dash appeals to me more than human females, and I've no romantic interest in anyone / anypony else.  And I regard Rainbow as a woman.  A beautiful, extraordinary, differently-shaped woman; though I find her shape quite appealing. x3
