Are we gonna ignore the fact that Twilight took an infant to a hospital full of sick ponies?

No, in the actual episode thread several people brought that up. Most simply don’t see that as major enough to continue a discussion beyond that point of observation, or it doesn’t detract from the experience of enjoying the show.

If the sick ponies had a dangerously contagious disease, they would've been quarantined. To visit someone at the hospital, you need to check in or have an approved reservation during scheduled visitor hours. Twilight didn't sneak Flurry Heart or Spike in for that matter into the hospital, so it's clear the staff at the hospital approved what she did.

It doesn't distract me from enjoying the show, I just found it kinda amusing.

What else would a hospital be full of?

And I thought we're supposed to spread the chicken pox to children?

If the kids were dangerous to be around, the doctors would not have agreed to let Twilight and Spike be there.

She's a Princess though, so although It would be most unlike her to ignore a doctor's advice/orders, she might have the right to just overrule them.

Technology in Equestria appears to be roughly equivalent to that of 14th-century Earth’s. Let us assume that the science hasn’t advanced far past that point either.

Is it though? I mean we constantly see a mixture of technology from different eras. Trains don't exist in 14th century, nor does arcade machines, glitter, modern rockertry, subwoofers, 1960s projectors, heart monitors, modern stage lightning, in your ear microphones, modern electricity as well as hydroelectric dam

If the postnuclear hypothesis is true, it’s possible. And besides, how do you know that isn’t to some extent powered by magic, which can be imbued into inanimate objects?

Postnuclear earth = Equestria?

What kind of disaster will that be? A nuclear apocalypse won't change our solar system tho

What if there was a galaxy-wide human civilization brought to its knees by strife? What if Equestria is the equivalent of the Foundation?

We most certainly are not. Pox parties have always been controversial and are always inferior to vaccines.

That episode was about how Twilight was too busy to look after Flurry Heart properly, so I do think that's part of the point.
