The "Legacy" of Friendship is Magic

Assuming that Season 9 sticks the landing (and we haven't any reason to think that it won't yet), what do you think the legacy of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic will be? If it's remembered, how will it be remembered? What impact will it have made on pop culture (be it positive or negative)? Share your thoughts!

I feel the most remembered thing about the show will be its fandom. The way it exceeded any expectations – what was previously seen by most as a franchise for little girls found popularity in all age and gender groups. :rarity: Along with the show itself having a quality that wouldn't have been expected of a cartoon based on a toyline, in spite of the highly-regarded previous works of the writers and other crew.

Especially for the former reason, I expect the show's legacy to be largely positive. Some of the negative events in the fandom will certainly be remembered to some extent, but I'd expect most people to realize those aren't exclusive to the MLP fandom.

Well said! I also think we have Friendship is Magic to thank for the success of shows like Hilda, Steven Universe, and Star vs. The Forces of Evil. TV shows are no longer being brushed off for being too "girly".

It's going to be that show weird fandom.

To be fair, you can describe 90% of popular shows with that description.

Of course the huge fandom of it, containing various ages, despite to it's meant to be for young girls.
The lesson of you can make something loved, just have to wrap it up good. The thing, that liking a show like this, does not mean there is something not ok with you.
The numerous writings, music, animations...etc. made by fans, and I hope they will continue to be produced.
I can give it thank because I found true friends irl, who also liked the show.
So, many positive things. Ok, there are dark corners of it, but what does not have?

Mostly for the peripheric demographic, but also being a first step of not dissing shows for looking girly on the surface, and also for putting Canadian animation and voice acting on the radar again, after years of seldom activity
