Personality Types

It's not just here, though. You go anywhere on the internet, and you'll see that probably about 70% or more of people are INs, with the most common usually being INTJ.

Is it really that INs love the internet while the ES types avoid it, or are the online tests flawed?

Some of the online tests may be flawed actually.. especially if the questions are written in such a way that Introverted and Intuitive answers are considered "good" and the opposite are considered "bad".

On the other hand, maybe INs are more likely to see threads like this and take the personality test/post their results while ESs will see a thread like this and just ignore it.. since it's something which isn't as interesting to them.

From my experience, I think Intuitive types tend to find this stuff more interesting than Sensing types, on average.

So... I decided to do a little bit of research, here. These are the results that I've found.

img-2689785-1-QheUYTV.png

This gives the relative percentages of the population of each type based on several different internet communities, as well as the general population.

The bars in black represent the overall prevalence of each, considering the entire general population. The bars in cyan represent the prevalence among men, and the bars in red represent the prevalence among women.

Now, for the online communities:

Purple represents the data gathered from here. This is us.

The whitish-blue color represents the xkcd community. XKCD is a webcomic based on nerd humor.

The green color represents data gathered from Wrong Planet, an online community for individuals with autism or aspergers.

Gold represents Aeclectic Tarot, a website dedicated to tarot cards.

The Navy Blue color represents results gathered from an ADHD forum.

The orange color represents results gathered from a Christian internet community.

The pink color represents results gathered from AVEN, a website dedicated to asexuality.

---

Basically, this illustrates a few things:

  • INs are everywhere on the internet. 'Nuff said.
  • ENs are represented on the internet with the same frequency as the general population.
  • ESs are vastly underrepresented on the internet.
  • ISs are slightly underrepresented on the internet.

In addition, I have a few other unique observations:

  • Autistics are most likely to be INTJs. In fact, there seems to be a significant degree of overlap between the two groups. INTP is the second most common personality type, very closely related.
  • Members of the AVEN community are also most likely to be INTJs. Again, there could be some overlap here, considering that INTJs are notorious for their inability to succeed in the department of romance.
  • XKCD attracts INs like a pond of water attracts mosquitoes. This isn't surprising, considering the style of humor.
  • Tarot seems to be an INF thing. This makes sense, considering that it's far more subjective than objective by its very nature.
  • Christians are a little more evenly spread out than the other selective groups, and closer to the general population. They still lack ESs, though.
  • The most common type on ADHD forums is INFP, followed by INTP and ENFP. The Js are vastly underrepresented compared to the rest of the internet population.
  • On average, men are most likely to be ISTJ, and women are most likely to be ISFJ.
  • Very few people, either in real life or on the internet, are ENTs.
  • ISFJ, ESFJ, and ESTJ are the most common personalities in the general population.

Very interesting.

Can we say that the online samples are representative of the online population though?

Maybe certain types are more likely to respond to "What's your MBTI type?" than other types.

Not everyone sees something like this and thinks, "Awesome...must respond!!!"

From my personal experience, ESXX types tend to be the least interested in this sort of stuff... the types least interested in "who they are", while Introverts and Intuitives have more interest in these kinds of things.

Took this test a while back but I don't remember the numbers. Anyway, I'm an INFJ, which corresponds with Zecora in that thing in the OP.

This is what it says about the INFJ:

Seek meaning and connection in ideas, relationships, and material possessions. Want to understand what motivates people and are insightful about others. Conscientious and committed to their firm values. Develop a clear vision about how best to serve the common good. Organized and decisive in implementing their vision.

ESFP.

And apparently I'm unrepresented in the internet. Well... Here I am!

According to the grand old chart It says I'm most like Scootaloo??  >_>

What rubbish is this!? Couldn't I have got a more awesome character? (no offense scoots!)

Though upon reading the description it does seem to sum up my life story...

Outgoing, friendly and accepting, exuberant, lovers of life, people and material comforts. Enjoy working with others to make things happen. Bring common sense and a realistic approach to their work, and make work fun, flexible and spontaneous. Adapt readily to new people and environments. Learn best by trying a new skill with other people.

Oh well, looks like I'd better start embracing my inner Scootaloo!  :squee:

Well I am a uni student, so did you really expect anything else?

I'm... Zecora??? Introvert(56%)  iNtuitive(12%)  Feeling(12%)  Judging(33%) INFJ... I don't know... I don't feel very "Zecora"ish... I mean I get what they are going with but I honestly feel Fluttershy & Luna would be closer matches, & that isn't because I like them... I just don't feel that Zecora is really what I am like... Maybe I am wrong, who knows...

That will change once you start dealing with adults. I'm an INTJ and my leadership skills have "flourished".

INFJ

EDIT: Scratch that, instead of rushing, I answered it thoroughly and here are my results.

INTJ

Introvert(44%)  iNtuitive(75%)  Thinking(62%)  Judging(44%)

  • You have moderate preference of Introversion over Extraversion (44%)
  • You have distinct preference of Intuition over Sensing (75%)
  • You have distinct preference of Thinking over Feeling (62%)
  • You have moderate preference of Judging over Perceiving (44%)

Apparently INTJ's are mostly autistic?  :o  I learned something new today.

Upon further introspection and research, I honestly think I'm an ENTP and not an INTJ, like I was tested.

Personal issues (including a breakup) have led me to feel more reclusive/antisocial lately, but that doesn't make me an introvert.

My energy comes from the external world and things surrounding the external world, which is a big part of being an extrovert.
I am energized by positive social interaction and bogged down by negative social interaction.

I'm also not too big on small talk.. and try to steer conversations into more interesting topics.

As for Perceiving/Judging, this one is even easier. My job has forced me to become more organized and J-like (for the sake of making things more efficient which is something T-types tend to be focused on), but I'm a Perceiver everywhere else.

So, in ENTP land.. that puts me as the same type as Discord (and Q) and Applebloom.

Changing my vote.

I got INFJ and I think that it is pretty accurate, but with a lot of these test, the questions are kept very general and in specific situations one might react differently.

But nonetheless it's fun to look at these sorts of things :D

ENTJ

Extravert(1%) iNtuitive(62%) Thinking(1%) Judging(1%)

You have marginal or no preference of Extraversion over Introversion (1%)

You have distinct preference of Intuition over Sensing (62%)

You have marginal or no preference of Thinking over Feeling (1%)

You have marginal or no preference of Judging over Perceiving (1%)

Trixie!? Well, I am just as much if an egotistical narcistic elitist bastard as she it, but meh...

3 times 1 percent! What!?

Your Type Preferences

Extravert(1%) iNtuitive(62%) Thinking(1%) Judging(1%)

Because you appear to have marginal or no (1%) preference of Extraversion over Introversion, marginal or no (1%) preference of Thinking over Feeling, marginal or no (1%) preference of Judging over Perceiving, characteristics of more than one personality type may apply to you:

ENTJ, ENFJ, INTJ, INFJ, ENTP, ENFP, INTP and INFP.

Apparently I am everything...

How would you walk, how would you talk if you thought: "Three percent of the population likes classical music, if only we could get it up to four percent we'd be back in business and all our problems would be over." How would you walk, how would you talk if you thought: "Everybody loves classical music! They just haven't found out about it yet!" It's an entirely different world. It's what you make of it that counts.

I found an easy way to find out if you've inspired someone. If their eyes are shining, you know you're doing it!
