I just saw what Ubisoft had for Assassin's Creed 3 at E3, and I have to say that I was impressed. I can see myself having many fun hours with this game as I have had with the previous titles.

I just wanted to see what everyone else thinks

For those of you who haven't seen it yet:

Too many AC games for me.

I stopped after 2. It was fun, but doing the same things gets boring to me.

Just like Halo, CoD, Pokemon, God of War, the newer Mario games...Too much of one thing is bad.

Looks interesting enough.

Though, one thing bothers me.

At 4:12 you notice Connor uses a soldier as a shield from the famous British volley firing. A musket's penetration was enormous, it can defeat all armour back in that day and even competes with handcannons nowadayd of the .50 calibre variety. Every single one of those musketballs, presuming they hit their target, would effortlessly pass on through that soldier and through Connor as well.

Other than that I have no quarrel with what I see so far. Here's hoping.

Spergpost

Its a video game about genetic memory and a struggle between two secret societies, and this is what you critique.

IT WILL ALL DEPEND ON HOW OPEN ENDED THIS IS. if its scripted or forced then forget it.

Have you played the last 3 AC games?

Actually the type of musket the brits used was called the "Brown Bess" which was a .75 caliber smoothbore and that means that they had a soft all lead composition so when they hit they would burst upon contact which caused large flesh wounds but almost no penetration power so this is actually pretty accurate :)

Nope, but those were, from what I have seen, mostly city based terrain. This is, from what I've seen, mostly natural terrain. Making all box like buildings climbable is easy. When it comes to organic or random things like trees and rocks, it becomes a lot more difficult.

They were also pretty open world.

I was referring to the climbing and maneuvering.

Open ended as in, is there more then 3 ways to get somewhere. Example: In the video, he climbs a rock and comes in through the back. If you could enter that place from virtually anywhere then it's open ended, however if you're only able to enter through the back and climb on that one part of the rock then it's forced.

Well, I only saw Brotherhood and Revelations as giant expansion packs (albeit fully priced expasion packs grr...)

I'm just hoping that they add enough new features to it to keep it interesting enough, and it looks like they are on the surface. Only time will tell though. I really hope they keep the brotherhood feature because I felt like a boss when I was being chaesed by like 20 guards and called all of them to my aid, it was epic. The fun factor to me was relatively high (probably because I got myself in the most unlikely situations :) ) All in all though, I'm sure I'm going to have fun with this one. Especially if it's how Assassin's Creed 2 was to Assassin's Creed 1.

Actually, sir, I believe you're wrong. The Short Land Pattern "Brown Bess" did have some penetration. Each .75 lead ball could easily go through a man, and in that situation, Connor would have been hit without any doubt. Allow me to remind you that a musket ball could easily penetrate armour and soft wooden surfaces.

And another point, for some reason, the Brits in this game seem to be using Spanish or French muskets. In my two years of studying the British 1750-1800's army, I never read anything about their muskets looking like that.

-Just saying, the uniforms are all wrong on both sides. That's what happens when you allow the modelling and texturing crews to base their work on stereotypes.

And please, killing so many redcoats with a wrist knife and a tomahawk will surely make me sick at some point.
