Old Man Spike

So we know G5 takes place thousands of years after G4, and dragons can live thousands of years (as seen by Torch as an adult in Campfire Tales being fought by Flash Magnus), so what do ya think of there being an old man Spike appearing in G5, being the Mane 5's only source of information of the past?

Every generation with a TV show has a Spike, so it would be nice to have a Spike NOT a baby dragon for a change!

If a baby dragon does appear, they can always bring back Whismey Weatherbe, and call her his granddaughter or something.

G4 Spike being the only G4 character to really appear would probably be a little bit dark cause after all, his friends are all gone. It would make any interesting potential for a story about not wanting to get close to anyone anymore cause he knows he'll outlive them.

Regardless though, much like Celestia and Zecora were, Spike would make a great "wise character" the main cast go to for advice!

I don't think it would turn out well, since many fans are used to seeing Spike as a baby dragon and love him that way, so seeing him as an old dragon might be weird and dislikeable as a result.

I guess it depends on how he's used, and how often.  He won't be the Spike who we remember---the centuries will have changed him.

I mean, if there were some season finale or season premiere of the G-5 TV show that reintroduced him, or where he had a cameo, that might work.  If he were showing us flashbacks in the form of telling stories he remembers, that might work.  But there's wrong ways  to do things, too.

Honestly, in TV, it's not so much what you do as how you do it that determines success or failure.

I'll just repost my idea for Spike in G5.

I like the idea of Spike being in G5 as one of the last remnants of what Equestria used to be like.

What if in G5, Spike became a recluse?

Then it's revealed that Twilight started Twilighting when racial tensions started to come back, and her solutions only made things worse. Spike, seeing how bad things were, decides to resign as Royal Advisor and second in command. Twilight, in her anxiety, accuses Spike of treason and declares him an enemy of the state, forcing Spike to go on the run and flee to the far reaches of Equestria.

Sometime after, Twilight dies, and Spike was never able to make amends with her. As a result of all this, Spike in G5 is a bitter, angry, old dragon who just wants to be left alone. He's not the cheerful, kind dragon we knew him as in G4.

I have a verry simmeler idea. I also hade this idea that G5 spike is a yung purple dragon that was named Spike in honor of G4 Spike. G5 spike is both a big fan of G4 and feels like he can not live up to the legasy of G4 Spike.

In a season final the main 5 and G5 spike has to go and find G4 Spike to stop the villain. But G4 Spike is as you said, and do not want to help. This brakes G5 Spiks hart, seing his hero like this. He gives G4 Spike a "why you suck" spitch and lives boken hated. Just as the villain looks like he is about to win, G4 Spike coms and save the day, having been inspirerande by G5 spike and the main 5. He wins but he is badly wounded. G4 and G5 spike has a hart to hart and G4 Spike passes the torch to G5 Spike. And then he eather died or just looks like he died but he is ok but can't help them any more, but he is now the G4 spike we remember again.

That fits with what I sugested. He can no longer help do to injury, so he is more or less the new celestia.

Spike outliving Twilight? Oh, I forgot Twilight isn't gone.... Wait, how do I know that? (Nah, I am just kidding, I know nothing about G4's story)

I think it sounds like a great idea. A very wise Spike, with a beard, or something.

Of course he ain't gonna be a main character anymore - G4 is his series! But he could be the pathway to another dragon main character, his successor pretty much, even if he/she is his descendent!

Wether Spike appears or not doesn't really make a big impact on me

You know people accept the fact that Spike might change over the years and yet people threw a fit when Luke Skywalker changed into such a cynic in The Last Jedi? Honestly why can't people understand that people change through Time? Some people remain the same, sometimes something happens that changes a person's outlook on life but that's no reason to make a big deal out of something and think that the entire thing is ruined just because of that one thing.

Take my advice life is like a roller coaster. It has its ups and downs and twists and turns you might not like it but they will happen. Rather than complain about it just go on for the ride

I like the idea of a bitter Spike, but I don't want him to be angry with Twilight. If anything, he would be angry at himself for not being able to stop whatever triggered the fall of the civilization he and his sister had built. That's the kind of self-hatred that would drive a dragon like him into self-imposed exile.
