My Little Pony: Rise of Cadance is in comic shops today (or possibly next week if your shop is getting it through Diamond). Thoughts and opinions?

I just read it a little while ago. It's not bad, though I think the main conflict should have needed a little more effort to resolve. It also might have been a better story to have Cadance experience a bit more adversity as a Pegasus attending Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns. The good news is that the backstory of Cadance is essentially the same one that's told in the chapter books Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell and Princess Cadance and the Spring Hearts Garden, but  expanded out to her ascendance as an Alicorn and her first encounter with Twilight Sparkle.
