Carrick has always been a pony of with a face that never changed. Never for anger, sadness, or even happiness. The face is always covered in the look of indifference. A trait he had for such a long time. Maybe it was something in his brain that was disconnected. Maybe something in his past made him like that. A face that would takes months to understand.

 

However, this was not the case. When the words of the peagsus had parted from her lips. "You...." Carrick said softly. He didn't look at the peasus. Feelings of anger rush into the mind of Carrick. Slowly an indentation came between his eyebrows. "are the worst..." Carrick eyes filled with rage. Carrick jumped on her. He putted his hooves on her hooves to hold her back.

 

"Not only do you kill, but you said that it isn't your fault that you killed the innocent?! Just who in the hell do you think you are?!"

"Calm down." Said Starbolt as she restrained Carrick with her magic.

Carrick took a deep breath, a rush of anger slowly poured out softly. Though he was still enraged. His face turned back to his normal poker face. "Sorry..." Carrick said softly to Starbolt.

 

"I couldn't control myself." Carrick tipped his hat down in shame. He didn't like to lose control especially by his emotions. The things that had been able to control for such a long while.

Starbolt let Carrick go. "It's probably cause you haven't had any rest." She said realizing this was the first time she has seen Carrick get upset.

Carrick stood there. Maybe it is lack of sleep. It would make sense. I'd be more prone to emotional extremes. "Yeah, you're probably right." Carrick shook his head. "I'm going outside, I need a breather..." Carrick got out of the treehouse...

The peace of the night was pleasant for Carrick. The night skies that Princess Luna created had Carrick had seen them. To see their true grace. It's been a long time, hasn't it? When was the last time I had seen you? See this art? Carrick eyes stared up at the skies. Slowly the rage that had once filled him had slowly pieced away from him.

 

I don't know why I reacted like that. I've seen and argued with murders before, be it few, but why this one? Why is it that this one that triggers me? I wonder what blue Alicorn was talking about. Carrick gave a sighed softly. It can probably wait. Carrick trotted around Ponyville. He wanted to enjoy the peaceful night a little bit longer...

"I'm fine Starbolt, I'm used to things like that. He was lucky I didn't decide to knock him straight out of the window." Daeva replied Starbolt as she dusted off the dirt from her shoulder.

Ponyville seemed peaceful. It's like nothing has happen to this village. Carrick turned his head and sighed. He walked back to Twilight's treehouse. As much as he hated to think about it. What he did was wrong. Something a detective like him should of known.

 

He opened the door again. He saw both Starbolt and Daeva. He put down his fedora on the desk. "I'm sorry." Carrick apologized. "If I learned anything from being a detective that it nothing is always as it seems and at the same time can be as well. Maybe you are telling the truth. Maybe it wasn't your fault that you killed them. Maybe it was a form of self-defense. Maybe it was an accident. However, it could be the other way around. Maybe you killed them will malice."

 

He tried to remember when she said that, he couldn't tell with expression. Something he was good at. He shook his head. "However, until I have evidence backing it up, I'll listen to this truth you have said."

"Carrick i really think you should take a look at these." Said Ponyborn showing Carrick the letter that he found at his house

"Hey Carrick, do you know anything about devils?" asked Daeva as her eyes turned red while gazing into Carrick's eyes.

 

A second after Daeva blinked and her eyes turned back to normal.

 

Daeva didn't feel very well, she was a bit dizzy and she couldn't stand straight. A few seconds later she collapsed on Starbolt.

Starbolt taken by surprise fell on the floor. She picked herself up. "Daeva are you alright?" She said as she helped Daeva up.

"Carrick a little help?" She asked struggling to lift Daeva.

Carrick seemed unfazed by her trick. There one thing in doubt somepony truth. However, there is another to make them afraid. She fell on the ground and collapsed. Carrick blinked "That's odd, I don't think there was major damage that would lead to unconsciousness." Carrick shook his head and helped Starbolt put her on the bed, This pony might be a hoofful

 

Carrick turned his attention to Ponyborn, he read the letter. Carrick eyes widen for a second. "This is problematic. We are on the right trail, but we're are in trouble if we do push forward." Carrick gave another sigh.

Daeva woke up but only to find out she was dreaming. She was standing in the middle of a huge room filled with dead ponies, rotting flesh and blood splattered all over the room. Daeva looked around and saw only one way out and it was a dark hallway with doors in every direction.

 

She's never seen anything like it, it looked like an abandoned castle. As she continued walking forward a huge monster came crashing right through the walls, as the walls collapsed the bricks fell into molten lava.

 

Daeva ran as fast as she could back to the room she woke up, it was a dead end and the monster was right in front of her. She didn't know what to do so she just sat down and closed her eyes, waiting for it to kill her. Drops of blood fell on her that came from it's mouth, she was so scared.

 

Everything disappeared and she started falling, she couldn't fly for some reason and that's when Daeva woke up.

 

"Woah, what happened? I just had this horrible nigh-" she stopped, she couldn't tell everypony what happened.

"Are you alright?" Asked Starbolt. "You fainted earlier." She said.

'I wonder why she fainted after she stared at Carrick for a while.' Starbolt thought.

"Carrick Daeva is awake." Starbolt said. As she turned to Carrick she saw the letter he was holding.

"What's on the letter?" Asked Starbolt as she saw his eyes widen.

"I guess I'm fine, what's with this letter anyway.. Mind if I check it out?" Daeva replied Starbolt.

 

Daeva went over and peeked over Carrick's shoulder.

 

"I don't understand any of this, what does it say?" asked Daeva.

Carrick was asked about the letter. He turned to Starbolt.

 

"Well, look like Ice Star has found an ace in the hole. He taken them now as hostage. If we continue this case, we'd potential killing the six ponies..." Carrick said softly, he saw Daeva peeked over, "It's not polite to look at other ponies letters."

"Who's Ice Star and who's the six ponies you talk about?" questioned Daeva.

 

Daeva was wondering if it was the ponies who used the Elements of Harmony to save Equestria twice from both Nightmare Moon and Discord.

"The six ponies are the ponies who are the users of the Elements of Harmony," Carrick thought about Ice Star. "Ice Star is the pony who is the criminal of taking the six ponies and is right now taken them hostage if we continue this investigation. The pony has also been able to avoid the royal guards for his twenty-five kills as well. Including nobles, guards, and other ponies."

"So Carrick what do we do now? Do we stop investigating?" Asked Starbolt worried about the six ponies being threatend.

"What will happen if we stop? Will he let them go?" She said. Starbolt started pacing around and an orb ofd light started to circle her.

"So does anypony here know where Ice Star is? Maybe we could head over there and just kill him, though I doubt it'll be easy. Maybe then we could actually get somewhere instead of investigating don't you think?

 

"I'm actually a lot tougher than I look, after crashing down I haven't been feeling quite right."

 

"I should get some rest, mind if somepony bring me to a room where I can sleep?" Daeva asked Starbolt.

Carrick shook his head "Even if he let's the ponies go. We could have a bigger problem in our hooves. Whatever he has plan it could he had to take the six ponies. Well, unless" Carrick thought about it "maybe they were getting a wiff of his plans and he took them all away." Carrick thought about other ideas. He look at Starbolt, as she paced around the room.

 

Daeva went and said that we should go and kill him. "We don't know where Ice Star is. If he was smart he'd be long gone for where he live. We're suppose to go the house they he trained Trixie in, but I doubt he's there anymore.

 

"It's like we're playing with fire and whatever choice we choose, we'll be burnt. Just depends on how much..."

"So how are you guys planning on finding Ice Star when you he comes and goes every time, all you ponies know is where he's been. Maybe it's time to think where he'll appear next and that's when we kill them."

 

Daeva continued to think of other plans on how to kill Ice Star but she was too tired to continue thinking.

 

"Hey Starbolt, about the bed?" asked Daeva as she started wondering around the treehouse.

"You're a stubborn girl. Killing somepony isn't always the answer even when they do wrong. Also I'm a detective, not a mercenary. " Carrick shook his head. This girl is going to give him a headache. Carrick gave a long loud yawn. As much as he wanted to think more ideas, his body and mind were exhausted to the point where they'll be a negative outcome.

 

"There are only two beds here. One is occupied by Trixie and Thunder. I'm taking the other one. If you want to share, fine. Just try not to wake me up. I'm exhausted. " Carrick got the ladder and climbed up the second floor. He took the sheet and went on the bed. The soft mattress upon the touch of his back felt good. He slowly dozed off, his mind slowly going into sleep...
