"The War Z" is a new Zombie Survival Horror MMO being developed by Hammerpoint Interactive, and will be using the Eclipse Engine, which was made by BioWare and used in Dragon Age: Origins. Not much has been released about the game so far gameplay wise, but from what has been announced, it sounds and looks really awesome.

Sounds good, but damn DayZ wannabe.

When the developers noticed how good DayZ was recived they just had to make a cheap ripoff.

Will probably try it out when the beta comes.

I just knew someone was going to say this and I regret not saying this before, lol. The devs started making this last year before DayZ was even known about, but they do admit they love DayZ and it had much influence on later development.

I love DayZ, but that doesn't mean mean i won't like this game.

I'm looking forward to it, and i hope and pray they got the same system as DayZ, once you die you die. You have to restard from scratch, otherwise death would not mean anything and players would play it like some damn Call of Duty game.

Oh, and i hope the developers got some balls and maybe recruit the DayZ developers.

They have two gameplay modes "Normal" and "Hardcore". With normal you do not start with any weapons, and if you die you get a 48 hour lockout from that character. With hardcore you start out with a small pistol, and if you die it is a perma-death, and you'll have to delete the character. I really like how they have it set up for both casual, and hardcore gamers.

I don't know about that. But its 48 hours so i guess its alright.

Still, you should lose all your stuff the player loots from your dead body.

I'm not sure if normal players can be looted while locked out, but I'm pretty sure hardcore players can be looted when their characters die.

Late Edit: Though this thread is long and dead, I thought this beta footage would be worth necroing it.

From the looks of it, seems like it's going to be a solid game.

Seems worth checking out. It'd be nice to have the option of two similar games (structure wise), but each have their own flavor (DayZ seems more 3rd person oriented and slightly more realistic).

No subscription fees? I'm interested.

Also, I can just play nothing by hardcore characters, expecting to die and have start new ones frequently. That way, it won't matter that I don't have tons of time to devote to an MMO.

If you want the realism and hardcore side of survival, DayZ is the way to go.

The WarZ is a little more ''silly''. And i dislike the developers xP.
