Celestia as a filly.

I've been wondering lately about Celestia and her past. She is immortal, but I am sure many will agree that at some point she was a filly.

What I'm curious about is what she was like as a filly? I think it's a tad naive and boring to assume she was a sweet, angelic filly who could do no wrong. An idea I've enjoyed toying with is the filly-aged Celestia being an obnoxious, violent, spoiled brat. I'm not talking Diamond Tiara exactly, because she has a sense of elitism around her. With filly Celestia, I simply mean a violent, screaming child who goes beserk when she doesn't get her way. The bully clause pretty much goes without saying:

(Filly Celestia shoves filly Luna, who is learning her first steps, on her back)

Filly Celestia: (pointing) "Ha, ha!"

(She throws a dodge ball at young Discord, who falls into a river)

Filly Celestia: (pointing) "Ha, ha!"

(She kicks over larva Chrysalis' snow castle)

Filly Celestia: (pointing) "Ha, ha!"

Imagine if one of the big bads casts a spell and Celestia is reverted back to her filly age, including her behaviour as one. Now imagine the Mane Six having to now save the day, as well as watch after this beastly filly who punches Twilight, pulls Rarity's eyelashes, pokes Rainbow Dash in the eyes and all around verbally and physically abuses her temporary carers.

An idea for this possible episode could have Cadance take upon her role as foalsitter again, this time with her re-foaled aunt.

Twilight: (enthusiastically) If there's anypony who can take care of Celestia, it's Cadance!

(Twenty minutes later, Cadance is being pulled, screaming and raving furiously out of Celestia's bedroom by the others)

Cadance: LET ME AT HER! LET ME GO! JUST GIVE ME FIVE MINUTES ALONE WITH THAT SPOILED, SNOT-FACED BRAT!!

SA: Honey, control yourself! She's your aunt!

Now who would love to see this backstory and episode or at least a similar version of it?

Yeah, I guess I could see her like that as a child. Thus growing out of it and into what she is now.

Well look at Celestia's size. Her and Luna aren't regular ponies, nevermind the immortal part. Them depicted as fillies is adorable, but I don't know if they ever were.

Here's our canon on their past:

And:

It looks like Celestia and Luna were somehow above the chaos that Discord wrought, so it's hard to believe they were fillies born and raised in it. Where did Celestia and Luna come from? I dunno. Where did matter come from, if it can never be created or destroyed?

That's what implies the least amount of fanon.

Also, she said eternal chaos. This could imply any combination of:

1. that the chaos would've never ended if they hadn't stood up to him

2. that the chaos was really horrible

3. the universe had been chaotic for as long as it had existed.

Discord would be best chaos god in Warhammer 40,000 universe. Celestia would not have been around for filly discord, and would have been full grown by the time of the changeling queens birth.

Don't look to much into this analogy, but I think it's sort like Adam and Eve. The Bible said they were created; they were never physically babies. Same thing with Celestia and Luna. They, just, are.

Well let's consider the logical consequences of your conjecture:

If Celestia is (has been?) a dynamic personality, being noble, peacable and wise through a development from brash, impolite and spiteful, this would either come about through a long course of change, or an abrupt event.

A long course of change might take generations or even centuries. If her dominion was impending, her leadership would require her to "shape up" right quick, since a Kingdom of the normal-livéd cannot possibly have the patience that her longevity would demand.

Contrariwise, an abrupt event that would come to bear on someone who (for all intents and purposes virtually) lives forever would obviously have to be a very large and significant one, I daresay larger than the death of her parents. Such an event might also likely carry the ontological inertia to cause serious damage to Equestria itself somehow. (I'm discounting Discord's rule, seeing as it would be very poor form to inaugurate a young politician by having their first job at the tender age of 16 to be Prime Minister of Great Britain at the beginning of World War II.)

Thus I do not believe that Celestia did a "180 turn" so to speak, in terms of her personality through her young years.

She was probably much as she currently is, just less refined and wise. Elegant, graceful, beautiful, possibly a little manipulative but always polite and assistive.

When the daycare wouldn't let her have extra juice, she blocked out the sun, freezing and killing over a dozen innocent foals and two foalsitters. She was institutionalized only to summon a solar flare that knocked out the security of her cell. She broke free and formed a compound in the Everfree Forest. She gained followers. People seeing her as the bringer of divine judgement. Her numbers grew larger as ponies feared the destructive potential of the God Mare. After freezing over the world for three minutes, killing billions to illustrate her power, the democratic pony leaders gave Celestia the kingdom to assure their survival.

Yeah, pretty much. I almost think of the Professor from Powerpuff Girls, who was a right little Punk when he was a kid. I can definitely imagine Celestia being like that as a child.

It would be a really great episode and I would love to see it! I mean, who ever heard of a princess (like Celestia) being a brat? I mean seriously! This would be priceless! ^_^

Hey you!

Yeah you!

No, not you, the other guy!

Yeah, YOU!

..... Do you like tacos??

I highly doubt that either princess was a brat, but mischief with that level of power would be inevitable. Children will play, and by god they will play.

It's an intresting thing you know? I mean it'd be pretty fun to see Celestia act less regal and that much taller than everypony for one episode. I don't mean she has to act like a brat; I highly doubt somepony like Celestia would act that way. But it would be nice to see her as a filly. I also HIGHLY doubt Luna was a brat too.

I agree. They were just...there and will be forever. I kind of like how they don't have alot of backstory, i don't think they really need one.

Edit: Dear God, I just remember a fanfic I read about Celestia dying and Luna being all sad and stuff. Man, that was emotional. Twilight was like brought to tears.

I see Luna as being the quieter one of the 2, and I see Celestia acting sort of like a goody two-shoes, but not completely stuck up.

One thing to remember in all of this is that Celestia and Luna weren't the rulers of Equestria during it's earliest years. Nor were they the ones in charge of the sun and moon until later in their lives. All of this was revealed in "Hearth's Warming Eve".

I think if she was supposed to be of such high power later in life, the people raising her would probably discipline her as to not do this. Eh, I don't see this happening.

I HAD TO FALL TO LOSE IT ALL BUT IN THE END IT DOESN'T EVEN MATTER /WRISTS

Well, it wouldn't certainly show how far she's come as an adult, yeah. I mean, after all, a lot of us were different as children than we currently are as adults.

That is true. So then, without a royal upbringing, she was not taught the manners and disciplines like most royal children.

That's why we should never judge Diamond Tiara until she is an adult. She could be snotty as a child, then grow up to become a wealthy and good person like her father.

id think she was like thank i think she was a prankster pony who was kind but a bit controlling over luna :P scince luna got night shift and scince she a bit trolly with the tickets given to twilight and the fact that she laught when twilight sent the invisible ink to her which hints at a prankster

I think we're all forgetting that Luna was in a filly form after being cleansed of her NMM-ness, and Celestia said she had seen Luna like that before. Plus, the way the camera pans to Celestia looking at her cutie mark in Cutie Mark Chronicles suggests to me indirectly that she was young/a filly once, since that focus on her mark says to me that she went through the experience of discovering and obtaining it like anypony else.

I don't know I think she was rather kind except when aggravated. She probably couldn't control her anger as she can now. So she was probably a very angry filly.

That does make sense. She has such immense power and children, especially young ones, are prone to tamptrums and having such power with that would potentionally make it worse.

That's why we should never judge Diamond Tiara until she is an adult. She could be snotty as a child, then grow up to become a wealthy and good person like her father.

That is a valid point in regards to DT, but even so, the past doesn't just go away. You can judge a character for how they are at any age. We can judge DT negatively as a filly, but potentially good as a mare,
