The Name "Ponyville" is Realistic!

Humansville? That sounds like the fake-est town ever, if I told my friend that this was real, no one would believe me xP But it kind of does seem legit to me >.< It's pretty random to have a last name called "Human" though.

I've heard that someone mentioned they live near there, it's in the next county over, and they say it's pronounced "hoo man" instead of "hugh man", like some kind of Native American word or something :P

Well that just made my day... not sure if I should be happy or sad about this. On the one hand, Ponyville does have a real world equivalent; on the other, somepony decided to name their town Humanville. And don't even use some excuse like "oh, it's a Native American pronunciation of Hoo-man ville," cause that's bull! Whoever named that town knew exactly what it looked like when they named it Humanville!!!

The only logical reason for naming this town either after our speicies or some other really strange organism with the same spelling is that...

Pinkie Pie must have been riding Rainbow Dash during a sonic rainboom! The combination of sound shattering and dimension breaking power broke into our world, having this the wall between realities broken Pinkie went to get Lyra. After arriving Lyra had a near heart attack from seeing the amount of humans on this side of reality. The locals of the area were so dumbfounded that they were willing to do anything the ponies told them to. After a few "favors" the settlement was named Humanville in remembrance of the ponies. Though after all of the trouble the three ponies, Celestia would not have human interaction with her subjects. She deemed us too violent and corruptive. After repairing the shattered wall between us she erased any knowledge behind humans besides the fact of myth. To ensure that the people of Humansville were quiet about the whole situation, she entrusted a sole human to view and record their world. Lauren Faust who we all know has or I guess had all creative control of MLP:FiM right? That was a cover story for when she recorded the events that occurred in Equestria. The influence of humans never completely left the three ponies, which is why we see many references to our current society inside the show.

Seems legit.

The mind of the host will desperately try to create memories where none exist. Simple right?

Except Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie were also names of characters in G3, that most of the characters' personalities are based on G1 ponies fused with G3 ponies, and that FiM was supposed to feature redesigns of G1 Ponies that were recolored into the Mane 6 due to copyright reasons, and that Lyra was designed by a pony randomizer directly on Flash, not Lauren Faust. And that Lyra s' obsession with humans only came when the fans noticed a scene of her sitting on a bench. Which is just how her animation model sits, Amethyst Star also sits the same way and has the same expressions and "skeleton" as Lyra. She is just shown to do that less.

While not *quite* as on the nose as "Humansville," there is indeed a town here in New Jersey called "Manville."

Even a hit dog joint there with the unfortunate name of "Manville Texas Wieners"...

By the way, there's also a "Personville, Texas, "apparently.

This town was named after a man named Hugh Mansfield. Obviously that's rather hard to fit on a sign that small. So they shortened it logically, "Hu" short for "Hugh" and "Mans" short for "Mansfield" and "ville" is a natural additive to any city name. So, Humansville was founded!

That's all crap. I made it up. Good story, though, right?

Close enough. After research, I found out it was named after a settler in 1834 called James Human. He set up a permanent home there, and during the American Civil War, it was a garrison to 150 Union soldiers. After the war, it was made an official town in 1873, and had it's first mayor elected in 1886. Today it's population is a bit over 1,000.

Chances are, same thing. Manville is a surname.
