"The N Word" - the euphemism, not the word - is an incredibly moronic thing to say. The meaning isn't changed. Either man up and say it or don't, but don't pussyfoot around it like a coward. This applies to any other inane euphemism as well as self-censoring.

 

There is no such thing as "too soon". If a funeral isn't full of laughter, you're doing it wrong, you morose buncha spoilsports.

I don't really have any interest in watching the TV show "Game of Thrones," even though everyone is always saying how it is so great.

 

I thought exactly like that for the longest time...Until I caved and started watching it. It's pretty great if you're into it all.

I'm not going to start/continue a flame war, though a few of the comments here have angered me, but we're here to have a friendly discussion, right? And these are all opinions, I shouldn't get upset over someone hating me without having met me. *slight sarcasm, couldn't help it, please ignore it*

 

Just wanted to say, to the people arguing over what's an unpopular opinion and whatnot: sure, some of these opinions may be popular or unpopular on the internet or in society as a whole. But it really depends who you associate with and who you talk to. For example, if you live in a conservative town and you're a Democrat, you're going to have an unpopular opinion in that town, and same goes for the opposite.

 

Who cares? People are venting about things that they are put down for believing. Whether that opinion is generally popular or unpopular, they're bashed for it. Let them vent, thats' what this topic is for, no?

 

And here are a few of mine (things I've been put down for thinking/feeling):

Justin Bieber and other celebrities do not deserve to die. *Gasp!*

No one, save perhaps murderers and rapists, and that is a COMPLETELY different debate that I have no stand on, deserves to die. I'm sick of "Go die" "Go jump off a cliff" "I hope you cut yourself to death" etc. Have some humanity.

People should not be put down for their religion or lack of religion. How elementary is this? 

Being intelligent does not make you a better person. 

 

Really don't want to come off as mean or anything. I try not to be. These are just my opinions and I know I'm going to get hate for it, oh well

The above claim, regardless of who makes it, is a lie, a delusion or both. Period. Not supporting equality is a sign of discrimination which is itself a sign of hatred whether one realizes it or not.

I love summer, and I hate winter.

 

How is this even remotely an unpopular opinion? Not trying to be rude, but I feel like a HUGE minority in hating summer and loving winter. Winter is considered "too depressing" by the majority of people. Even where I live, where it's clearly the nicest season of the year (feels like a Spring would up in the North) it's considered "too cold".

 

Most people prefer Spring over Summer, I suppose. But where I live they blur together. =/

 

Also, where in the world do you live that being a Christian is an unpopular opinion? I'd like to know, because I'd like to move there. (Unless we're talking about a place where another religion is in power, of course.)

Ahh, yes. So do I. I'm more familiar with post-hardcore but I do enjoy screamo bands like Pg.99 and Circle Takes the Square.

So I see this all the friggin' time in this thread so I'm going to assume that thinking that the cartoons of today suck is actually a popular opinion.

I actually disagree and think that the quality's actually been more or less the same. Wanna know why you're able to name more bad cartoons now than back then? Something called selective nostalgia. You don't remember it, but those millions of god awful cartoons on Cartoon Network always existed. I'm serious, too. Go take a look at their listings over the years and you will see one or two good shows mixed in with a million things of trash, which is kind of how it is right now as well.

That's incorrect. On forums where they create polls if you tally all of the Christian sects votes together they still outnumber the Atheists and other religious groups, usually by a lot.

 

The only difference is that we Atheists are open on the internet. Either way, Christians are still in the majority.

Outside of the Deep South, Paganism tends to be accepted in the United States.  And American, popular interpretations of Buddhism are at times more popular (second definition) than Christianity...

Hate to say it, but atheists make up a plurality (highest percentage but still not a majority) on the internet.  I've also found that Libertarianism is very popular, probably more popular than either party (speaking of which, distaste for the American political system is very common).  The internet is also pro-drug legalization and is split down the middle on guns.

 

The problem with this thread is that not many people have very unpopular opinions.  Makes perfect sense; otherwise, why would they be "unpopular"?

TBH, I've gotten smack from people on both sides of the spectrum for my views. But I don't know any libertarians IRL, most of the people I've met are liberals.

I am a Christian myself and there are so many people within' my religion that disgust me with how intolerant they are of others... Ignorant people what can you do with em'?

 

I have plenty of  friends that are atheists. Actually one of my best friends that I have known since middle school is atheist. It doesn't affect our friendship in one bit!!

 

 

People ought to live their lives happy that goes for gays,lesbians and etc. you get what I am saying! People deserve to live their lives happy without being put down for what they believe in. I despise it when I see others protesting and putting others down for what they believe in. People need to become more tolerant and open-minded of others.

 

I spoke to a friend of mine at work who is an Atheist and he agreed with everything that I said and he also stated we need more people like you... Now we are very good friends.
