Dude congrats on the shiny giratina o.o! I kinda took a hiatus on shiny hunting but for me I am still going for the shiny zangoose via masuda & shiny electrode via soft resetting SS. Nice man the shiny ponyta I got was pure random encounter... the only way I would try to get a shiny ponyta would be masuda other than that no way lol!

My first and only wild shiny that I caught was a shiny psyduck on my copy of pokemon diamond.

I do have a few shiny pokemon from events though.

My first and only shinny pokemon was a gastly (now a gengar however I sold the game he was on) he randomly apeared in the pokemon tower on pokemon fire red I was ill prepared and had only a few pokeballs and a lv 80 something Raquaza from my emerald at the front of my party of lv 80-90 ish pokemon so I was lucky to catch him in a great ball.

I encountered a Shiny Budew

it was in a double battle so I had to kill the normal one before I could catch it. I love it soo much but I dont wanna evolve it

My first Shiny Pokemon ever:

MAGIKARP!

It was in HG too, so it's not like I couldn't get a shiny Gyarados in the same game easily.

 

Then I got the Gyarados, but that wasn't a random encounter.

 

And people in the GTS are really nice! I got a Shiny Gothita and a Shiny Ditto from there, though I think I traded something for the Ditto... I have 2 Dittos, one shiny, one foreign. So one is shiny, the other is for breeding a shiny!

 

But only the first one was a random encounter.

I've never encountered a shiny Pokemon before in any of my games. Which is really a shame, but they are so hard to come by. Maybe someday... like the new Pokemon game. That would be so cool.

First and ONLY time i have found a Shiny was in Pokemon Emerald, i was just in my way when suddently.. HOLY CRAP SHINY SLOWPOKE.

 

Good thing i had some Pokeballs to capture it, i think i still got the data of that little guy...

I have never seen a shiny pokemon, outside of other people's gameplay vids, and haven't even played any of the games since finding out about their existence. Heck, I didn't even know that Red Gyarados technically counted as a shiny before this thread, I assumed it was one-of-a-kind in each game. It's not important enough to me to try finding in particular, but if I ever did find one I'd catch it and bring it with me through all future games as best as possible.

 

Or, more likely, if I ever did find one I'd kill it because I never travel with any party but my highest level pokemon, and I never teach them any moves except the most powerful they can learn.

A had a random encounter with a shiny Sandshrew on my brother's leafgreen when I was younger. I was just training up some pokemon for the Elite Four, being bored, and I suddenly saw a green one. At first I was like, nah, it's a glitch, but then it shined and I was all, Holy Sh!t. I caught it in an ultra ball.

Luckily, after a year or so of persuasion, I got to keep it. 

If this counts, a few years later I was just randomly soft resetting my Leaf Green for a bulbasaur, not expecting any result, and then on the fifth reset I got a shiny Bulbasaur. xD

The same thing happened a few months ago with Uxie. Just doing it to pass the time because I hadn't anything to do. On the third reset though! Lucky me! 

EDIT: Oh yeah, right, forgot to mention the level 100 shiny magikarp. (From Diamond @ that resort place) Another RE, but I reset the game it was on, the idiot I am.

I'v only seen one shinnying Pokemon. It was in Pokemon Diamond, the Pokemon was a shinnying Unknown. Not a great one, but still a shinnying is a shinnying.

I've actually encountered quite a few shines, so I'll share some stories.

 

• Shiny Gastly in LeafGreen: However, I was reading about glitches in Pokemon games at the time, and assumed that it was a glitch, so I shut my game off. I still feel very stupid about that. 0-1
• Shiny Exeggcute in LeafGreen: This time I knew what shinies were, and I did my best to catch it, but it was in the Safari Zone, so it fled. 0-2
• Shiny Torkoal in Emerald: My first successful shiny capture was actually pretty easy. No risk of fleeing, and she didn't even escape my first Great Ball. 1-2
• Shiny Natu in Emerald: Another Safari Zone encounter, so I was a little paranoid, but I got lucky. 2-2
• Shiny Zubat in Emerald: Started a new file. Met in Granite Cave, shortly after my brother caught a shiny Golbat. He's now a Crobat.   3-2
• Shiny Nincada in Emerald: After a great run, I knocked this little fella out while trying to weaken it. 3-3
• Shiny Poochyena in Sapphire: Just before running into him, I had a thought about how unlucky it would be to encounter a shiny before you get any Pokeballs. My most disappointing failure, since I didn't even get the chance to catch one of my favorite Pokemon.   I didn't even complete that game, just started a new file immediately. 3-4
• Shiny Starly in Diamond: Caught immediately, didn't even try to weaken it. 4-4
• Shiny Stantler in HeartGold: I honestly don't remember much about it, but I did get it. 5-4
• Shiny Wurmple in Sapphire: Caught during a Nuzlocke run. Didn't think twice about breaking the rules for it. Using the Emerald cloning glitch, I got the entire Beautifly line, but I can't get one to evolve into Cascoon. 6-4

After finding out about the Emerald cloning glitch, all of my friends and my brother cloned their shinies, and we all shared them. So I also have Granbull, Bellossom, Hypno, Machamp, Swablu, and the Golbat I mentioned earlier. I didn't know about the glitch before I evolved my Crobat, though.

To date, I've only had 2 encounters of Shiny Pokemon so far in my gaming career. My 1st ever shiny was a Carvanha in Pokemon Ruby. At the time, I didn't know what shines were, but I caught it because it caught my attention for being a different color. It wasn't until I discovered serebii.net that I realized that something like this doesn't happen too often. 

 

My 2nd shiny was unfortunately a Bidoof in Pokemon Pearl. I got the game on my birthday, and I recall encountering the shiny very early on in the game. I used it on my team thinking that it had higher stats because it was shiny, but I eventually made him my HM slave. Why I got cursed with a shiny Bidoof, I may never know   .

I've been playing since G1 and have yet to see a non-Gyrados shiny...  My sister caught a shiny Geodude once before though.  It was destroyed when she restarted the game at a later date though.

 

I did once have a case of Pokerus in my party.  It was on my mienshao, but by the time I was notified of this in the Pokecenter the virus had already become uncontagious...  I know that pokerus isn't exactly shininess, but its rarity is relatively similar, so I figured I'd mention it.

Lets see... Magby on Crystal was my first. From the odd egg. Him, with my Espeon and Meganium, helped me beat the pokemon league for the first time.

 

Silcoon in Ruby. I saved after evolving it into a beautifly, and literally ten minutes later my brother restarts it. I could have strangled him.

 

In Pearl, a shiny Quagsire ran away from me in the Great Marsh...

 

Caught a shiny Swinub at Lake Acuity in Platinum. Not sure where he ended up.

 

Vulpix in HG (or was it SS?) I still use it on my main competitive team.

 

I've acquired quite a few shinies over the GTS and ev trained them, including Gliscor, Kirlia, Absol, Dratini, a Pupitar I gave to my brother, Charmander, Lanturn...

I never saw a shiny for the longest time. I've been playing Pokemon since 2000, and I didn't see a shiny in any of my games, save for the red Gyarados, until SoulSilver back in 2010. When I was surfing in a lake, I spotted a shiny Poliwag. (It's only a slightly brighter blue, so I definitely needed that shine to help me realize that it was a shiny.) I caught it and felt so happy.

 

Later, when I was going to the hair salon, I decided to bring my SoulSilver game so that I had something to do for when my hair needed to dry. (I'd rather play that then spend another minute reading style magazines. ;P) I encountered a shiny Geodude. Because it was noticeably a different color, even in the shadows before it slides into it's official battle appearance, I at first thought something was wrong, as that was the first time I saw a shiny of a very different color. I was holding back the lady who told me it was time for the next part of my haircut session so that I could catch it. It was a low-leveled Pokemon, so there were no worries about it self-destructing, and I caught it easily. Two shinies within a few months from each other! And not one before or since!

The only shiny I ever caught was a shiny Caterpie, it was pretty cool. But I don't play Pokemon anymore. I'm sure I still have the cartridge and the Gameboy Color lying around here somewhere but I don't know. I doubt it would be worth taking a picture anyway.

what about pokemon leafgreen? cause i saw 2 shinies, caught one

 

1st story:ok so i was training my charmander (leafgreen) and it was my only pokemon so this is before i got my pokedex and 5 pokeballs. i was training for a super long time and eventually i saw a shiny rattata. i would have caught it, but i didnt have pokeballs

 

2nd story:(pokemon black) i was at the same place you get the dream mist after battling team plasma and so i ended up finding a shiny munna which i caught.i almost added it to my team, but it was too weak.

Actually, I remember... Something... In pokemon Sapphire, ages ago, I caught a Shiny Wurmple. I didn't know about shinies, and just thought that the Wurmple had those sparkles because of it's ability, which was shield dust... Silly me, forgetting about that entirely!
