I'm really surprised what this commercial is for I thought it was for something wood related but nope.

I believe the reason why Japan does this is BECAUSE they know it is strange. When you think about it, advertisements are all about capturing the viewers' attention, and piquing their curiosity. What better way to do both of those than give a commercial too bizzare to ignore that gives little to no information about the product? They make them as off the wall as possible so they have something that makes the brand names memorable. Hard to forget those names, considering how many times they are repeated and how oddball the advertisments are. Also, making things weird like this appeals to the Japanese sense of humour, in which they laugh and poke fun at the undeniably strange.
