Star Fox 64 is a classic N64 game, and considered the best in the series.

The game lets you take control of Fox McCloud, the son of James McCloud, the former leader of Star Fox, a mercenary for hire group.

Prior to the setting of the game, the Star Fox Team: James McCloud, Pigma Dengar, and Peppy Hare were sent to check on the banished mad scientist Andross on the barren, lifeless planet Venom.

Pigma betrayed his colleauges for money and later joined Andross' own mercenary for hire group, Star Wolf.

James was killed, and Peppy barely managed to escape. He telled Fox about his dad's fate, Fox swore vengance on Andross.

Years later, Andross mounted an attack on the Lylat system with his newfound army, conquering every planet, until Corneria was the last bastion of power in Lylat.

Fox recruited ace pilot Falco, mechanical wizard Slippy, and veteran Peppy. These four furry animals would free Lylat from Andross.

Discuss anything about this classic game.

I used to love playing this game! Once I learned how I would always make it my mission to go to every sector I think it was called? (The X,Y and Z areas on the map.) And then attempt to fight the real Andross.

You got to love Star Wolf, the first time I went on Bolse, I had no idea why they were there.

Considering Bolse has the toughest common enemies in the game, putting in Star Wolf didn't help my noobish self. :(

I owned this game on the N64 as a kid and loved everything about it. I never was able to figuire out how to do the secret missions so I always did the generic storyline. The vibration and first person mode on the N64 version made me feel like a badass

This game was one of my favorites when I was a child. The worlds were very well made and unique in their own way. The game play was smooth and intuitive. All of the music fit the mood of the situations the game tossed you into. Then to top it all off Nintendo threw in one of those fake endings that makes you think you beat the game when in reality you have to play this awesome game a second time. The second play through not only extends the experience of the game but it makes you pay more attention to your surroundings to find what you missed in the first run through. This game made you feel accomplished when you finally beat Andross in his true form and then made a daring escape with James McCloud. Good Times, Good Times.........until Slippy got tossed onto Titania because he thought he could help you fight a boss. You are so helpful Slippy allow me to show my gratitude by leaving you with the giant sand monster. Besides he seems to be rather fond of you and everyone needs a friend.

I don't even remember the 1st I played the game. If i remember correctly, I 1st played the game when my brother borrowed the game from his friend. All I did was take the red route except Sector Z so I used to go with in this path: Sector Y, Aquas, Zoness, Macbeth, and Bolse. After Borrowing the game from my Friend, I did some of the work for him such as getting the medal and unlocking expert mode and took the courage of going through Area 6. Apparently due to my courage and confident skills, I went with this Path: Sector Y, Aquas, Zoness, Macbeth, and Area 6. When it comes to High Score Runs, I go with Meteo, Katina, Sector X, Macbeth, and Area 6.

Sector Z is one of my worst stages to handle for a medal. The Reason why is because that I have to get enough points for a medal instead of letting my wingmen destroying the missiles and of course maintaining the Laser Upgrade.

Used to play the crap out of this game, it's one of my most played games ever.

I used to be good enough at it to take the hard route any time I went through it but I've never unlocked hard mode nor have I gotten more than one or two medals (only medals I ever got were stage 3 and 6 on the easy side. The snow planet where you fight Star Wolf and the Space Station where you fight Star Wolf again)

Used to have this game down pat though, I could take any route from anywhere in the game. I could get to True Venom from the easy side of the game easily by going through the train level the hard way. (Remembering where the switches were was always the hardest part of the game for me for some reason)

However, all that said, it's far from my favorite Star Fox. That privilege goes to Adventures with Assault as a close runner up. I absolutely love Adventures, it's got an amazing story and while I fully admit I would have liked to see Dinosaur Planet in it's original form I'm okay with them turning it into a Star Fox game.

As for Assault, I learned that the game is a hell of a lot more fun when you are actually trying for high scores rather than just coasting through the game. Coasting through you wouldn't see the glamour in beating the hell out of large mobs or enemies trying to keep up a combo so you got the highest score possible. Trying to unlock Xevious was a great way to learn to appreciate the game. Only thing I don't particularly like about it is the fact that every, single, level is an arena type level rather than being progression-type levels.

Oh man, StarFox 64. I played the heck outta mine. I was able to get on after dinner and have it beaten by bath time 20 minutes later. The RIGHT way too.

I played some but not a whole lot. I didn't even know there was an on-foot multiplayer mode until years later and I have never unlocked it. I'm a single player kind of guy so I hardly ever play multiplayer period.

Don't get me started on Sector Z, the medal is so infuriating, especially if you go there from Zoness.

I can now get all missles without my wingmates or Katt stealing them. The only problem I have is killing as much enemies as possible before they come...

I never understood Katt's existence. Was she in the original Star Fox (I never played that one, so I wouldn't know) or was she shoehorned into SF64? Her presence never made any real sense to me.

Like Bill, she was shoehorned in.

Katt and Bill acts as a 5th wingmate Zoness and Katina respectivley. Once you finish the level you meet them on, they will help you on the next level.

Katt helps you blow up the Forever Train on Macbeth, and destroys missles heading towards the Great Fox.

Bill gives you lasers, bombs, and health on Solar, and helps you go through the warp that goes from Sector X to Sector Z.

Lore wise, she was Falco's teammate in his former gang the Hotrodders.

Oh I understand all that, I know their functions and story purposes, it just always felt like they never really explain her. It's like she never should have existed in the game in the first place but she does.

Katina was absolutely my most favorite level in the whole game. Sometimes I would just restart the level and love a life just to play it over and over again. One thing I sometimes wish is if you could replace Peppy and Slippy with Bill and Katt.
