Kids cannot fully understand the story behind them so they don't find that to be scary at all. However, when you grow up story is the scary part, the visuals is just a bonus. Feel free to show him this movie. The clowns are way creepier in the looks then the clown from IT. I showed my younger cousin the scary maze game once (years ago)..... I mean everyone reacts different to these sort of things but he lost it. Because when they introduce the "Things" you don't expect it, so if you don't watch the trailer than it will scare the living daylights out of you.
