Everything we think, we choose. You can choose how you feel. Emotions are based on what you think. One person might decide a stick is good and be happy, while another one might choose that the stick is not and be unhappy.

I'd say that's true, to an extent. However, emotions aren't necessarily dictated by thought, they are independent. You can influence your emotions by your thoughts, but, naturally: 

 

emotions aren't something you choose....

 

If something makes you sad, you will be sad. You can choose how to cope with that sadness, how to react. But, if something really upsetting happens, you can't simply say "I will be happy" and be happy, just like that.

Actually, It might make me fairly happy. Having those things happen would be very exiting, and interesting. I am a proponent of change, even in its more destructive forms. I don't want my house burned down or my friends killed, but I wouldn't be angry or sad that those things happened.
