So now we are debating about abbreviating the word abbreviation.

I'll throw my hat into the ring here; while I find the English language funny because of words like abbreviation, a word literally supposed to represent shortening a word or sentence is so long to begin with, but the fact that we, funnily enough, abbreviated it to abbr. is, in itself really handy.

Seriously though, the word meant to represent shortening words, phrases and sentences is like 12 letters long! but hey, we shortened it to only 4 letters at least.
