(According to his logs, it had about 1.5 horsepower ('Earth Pony bucking' power). If the RP allows it, he will bring it to the faction he wants to join.) He wants to join House Moon and Star. He is a scientist, although he currently isn't too well known. His parents are unknown, and he has no siblings and barely any friends, meaning he is essentially alone in life. He figures getting into Moon and Star and making a name for himself there will help him in a quest for friendship and help, and in his inner quest for power.

 

As for his character, he is headstrong in his ways because no one really ever told him "no." He prefers hoof-on (because hands-on isn't quite appropriate in this sense) work, but uses magic and flies when he needs to. Ergo, because he doesn't practice much magic or flying daily, he is only slightly experienced in both ways. He has found he has the ability to create clones of himself, but each clone needs a bit of his soul to be able to do his will. If the clone dies before Nightfall can recall it, Nightfall loses that part of his soul. And even though, technically he can create as many clones as he wants without splitting his soul into too many parts, he feels his energy draining faster the more clones he has, and he loses focus trying to communicate with them all. (The communication is telepathic.) losing focus causes him to miss and forget certain spells, including basic spells. He rarely uses his clones, except when he feels threatened with no way out.

 

If accepted into the House Moon and Star, he will bring his all into it, hoping to rise up and thrive...

On your OC being an alicorn, I would very much wish for your to explain how and why Nightfall Starline is an alicorn and keep in mind you would be such because of a distant relation to the princesses in some way. Also keep in mind that Equestria is something of a grimdark setting, that those that wielded the Elements of Harmony have now divided and brought into discord Equestria. A large part because the Princesses Celestia and Luna disappeared 15 years ago… yet somehow, for some reason, the sun and moon continue to rise and fall like they have before. Thus for some ponies suggesting their beloved rulers had lied to them and are even dead, while for others (particularly House Moon and Star) the princesses are not dead and instead because of their great powers still bring the change from day to night.

 

A special consideration is that the discovery of an alicorn WOULD cause conflict and even danger to the pony in question, that it would actually be dangerous for your pony to be a member of House Moon and Star if he is an alicorn. Twilight would likely, if not guaranteed, experiment and try to use Nightfall Starline to turn herself into an alicorn… which would likely kill him. Other factions would react in a variety of ways but likely the reaction would be completely or at least partly negative. Many would try to kill your character because of their strong feelings against the missing princesses if they find out that he is an alicorn.

Lastly, you realize that your pony is only a lesser alicorn with powers and ability no greater than any other pony. He would have no more magical ability the a normal unicorn, be no better a flier then a normal Pegasus, and no stronger or tougher than a normal earth pony. As I said, distantly related, and you would need to explain why he is such.

You mean House Everfree, as that is the only group that could fit that description. Though it's actually the deer that are the 'elves' as such don't allow as they are not a part of House Everfree... at least not many.

I do believe that would not be possible, especially since there has only been one way shown in making clones of yourself and that is the Mirror Pool... that and possibly an extremely high level spell.

The clothing is fine, Twilight had Nix of the fanfiction Past Sins use a simliar idea involving clothes. The engine I don't see as problem, heck fans have joked about the fact that in one episode stallions were pulling a train while in another episode a train was moving like it should by itself. So your pony making an engine is perfectly fine.
