Rain Dance 131 September 17, 2012 Share September 17, 2012 My guess is that they want to look cool? Or maybe they think that nothing can ever happen? They maybe think they have been biking for so long that they would'nt ever fall? Am i right? Maybe they like think that even if they fall they won't get hurt? Well i don't know maybe. (I'm a helmet user. Doesn't matter what helm it can be an ugly flame helmet. Still i will use it.) :3 This Amazing Signature Made By Miss Cloud Chaser. tanoshii 131 September 17, 2012 Share September 17, 2012 I don't wear a helmet because it's an inconvenience. I can't fit it in my bag and there isn't any space to store it at college. Plus my trip only takes about 5 minutes. top lel
Gone for good 1,593 September 17, 2012 Share September 17, 2012 Personally I'm less worried about the people who are riding a plain bicycle without a helmet and more so the motorcycle riders who don't wear any protective gear at all. Of all the bike crashes I've had, I have never really hit my head and would always break my fall with my hands. The other day when I was getting a ride home from Lancaster PA, traffic slowed down like crazy because there was a dead motorcycle rider who wasn't wearing any protective gear at all and it looked like his head went through a paper shredder. Yeah sure accidents are rare, but I think I'm scared now to not wear a helmet on just about anything. Just editing my signature to say that my behavior on here was cringe. I don't regret the friends i made but man i was cringe here
Driz 1,552 September 17, 2012 Share September 17, 2012 It's been decades since I went bicycling... õ-õ But whenever I did, I never wore a helmet and my parents weren't picky about it either. I've never had a very serious accident, but I know I'm exposed to such risks when I don't wear the safety equipment. That's why I'm always as careful as possible when riding bycicles, skateboards, rollers, etc. I personally think that you'll be fine as long as you don't go too fast and stay in safe and uncluttered areas. Cocodrillo 1,565 September 17, 2012 Share September 17, 2012 (edited) Why? It´s simple. Because I don´t have a freakin helmet. Any other questions? (By the way I fell SEVERAL times and the only thing that ever got hurt was my knee. Does it mean we are supposed to wear a knee protectors also? Huh?) Ink 191 September 17, 2012 Share September 17, 2012 It's quite annoying having a giant bubble on your head, man. I really dislike wearing helmets for that reason, and because my head always starts itching when I wear them! I do it anyways due to safety reasons, but I can imagine those would be reasons for people not to wear a helmet. And because people these days are shallow and care about their appearance - helmets don't look that sexy. I frequently edit my new posts to fix grammatical errors or to reword stuff, so sorry if I make it look like I'm forging my messages to change the meaning of anyone's replies or something. Retro*Derpy 3,183 March 25, 2013 Share March 25, 2013 Though helmets can be inconvenient, people also don't like to wear them because they like to feel that rush of air up through their hair, giving a sensation. Though when bicycling I wear a helmet as I heard a bunch of stories of people losing their memories because they smashed their skull into the ground. Zygen 6,066 March 25, 2013 Share March 25, 2013 Idk I don't like super actively ride bikes or anything, but I do wear my helmet when doing so. I suppose some people just don't think they need it, maybe they don't have one, alot of people don't like the fit and how uncomfortable it can be. Some don't like the looks or helmet hair or alot of things really. I do personally, but I don't ride bikes a whole lot. I'm just very cautious since I'm no pro biker . Display Name 448 March 25, 2013 Share March 25, 2013 Its because they want to crack their head open in the cement. Why else do you think they don't wanna wear helmets silly? :b Plus people don't because they think it makes them look cooler.
Betez 1,734 March 25, 2013 Share March 25, 2013 For a while, I was riding my bike without a helmet all the time. Then I got hit by a car. Now, I wear a helmet. I think the main reason why people don't wear helmets is that it's uncomfortable. I know I felt that way. Also, I never would have thought I'd ever be in an accident. I guess people just feel the same way. Shanks 10,816 March 25, 2013 Share March 25, 2013 Because some people are idiots, wearing a helmet isn't cool but having your brains splattered all over the pavement apparently is. Rarity Get's Cockroaches
Goose 181 March 25, 2013 Share March 25, 2013 Helmets aren't cool... Fonda and Hopper didn't drive across America back in '69 with some namby-pamby safety device. Wearing a helmet just makes you look ridiculous, like that safety-conscious kid in The Pagemaster. (Actually I've flipped and my head has landed square on a boulder before - I always wear a helmet)
Winterbass 763 March 25, 2013 Share March 25, 2013 I cycle almost every single day and I never wear a helmet. One reason being is that I don't like to wear things on my head, no matter how important they are. I just don't feel I need one, not because I'm "pro" or anything, but because it simply isn't that dangerous out here. Sure, one day some sugar crazed taxi driver might kill me, but that's a risk I'm willing to take. And don't tell me that "one day you'll get yourself killed!" BS, the chance of a person dying always exists, no matter what he/she does. Wether I'm cycling or sitting on a chair, there's always a chance I'll get in some sort of accident. Also, the whole "just wait until you get in an accident" doesn't really apply here because I've been in enough accidents. Yes, I'm stubborn, no I'm not going to wear a frickin' helmet. And where's the fun without a little bit of thrill and risk when you're going down a steep slope, 30 km an hour?
Michael DeSanta 258 March 26, 2013 Share March 26, 2013 Umm I never hit my head when riding a bicycle to be honest. I mean wearing a helmet is going to do about as much help as a paper napkin in stopping a bullet when you get impaled by an object when riding a bike. I don't wear a helmet because to be honest why should I wear one. I don't like the Styrofoam and plastic crap on it in the first place. Second off they are not that tough I was able to break one of those helmets in half and third I am about as likely to crack a skull just walking around then while riding a bicycle. Maybe the chance is higher but to be honest I know enough to look where I am going at most times. I BUKING LOVE AMERICA AND POLTICS. some wise quotes "An armed society is a polite society." Lunas Husband 2,777 November 29, 2013 Share November 29, 2013 Because they don't think its very "Cool" to wear one... its like yeah ok, its not cool to protect my head from getting bucked up.. So call me uncool all you wish! At least my head is going to be safe... and sound. "Does not matter what they say, my sweet love!
