Have anyone Heard about the Black mesa Mod for HL2? It's Released! I've been waiting for years for this to come out and it looks AMAZING!

 

The Mod basically remasters that nostalgic video game we all love, Half Life using valve's source engine, everything from graphics to voice overs, music to art is all updated.

The game's storyline is same as the classic half-life, but it only leads up to the chapter Apprehension I think. But Xen will be added as well

If you have problems downloading the 7-zip file, use the torrent instead, if it's too hard to drag and drop a couple files and wait for a while, just wait for steam's official release.

Yeah I have it installed now. Based on the video commentary I watched on IGN everything in it still pretty much the same except for Source as the primary engine. What gets me really exited to play this classic again is that it'll be twice as unnerving for me. I mean the original got me a little unstringed, especially with vortigaunts popping out every other door.

 

 

Aside all that I can't wait to jump back to this awesome remake!

I uninstalled it, i waited a lot and i got dissapointed.

 

Really? This is a redux of HL, not CoD or BF.

I wasn't getting annoyed at the beginning, after all the graphics and the remodeling are terrific, i was pretty impressed.

The puzzles and the maps changed a lot, i found that pretty good too.

But when it comes to battle... jeez, so casual.

-Crowbar hits from a pretty long distance

-The pistol is OP as fuck with the fire rate (spam mouse1 and it's almost as quick as the old SMG in HL)

-Enemies are dumb

-You get the Revolver almost at the start of the game, and the damage is overwhelming.

The SMG eats ammo like a kid eats candy, for fucks sake, the recoil was so high too and the clip could only hold 30 shots, the ammo with the SMG kinda like vanishes.

I got that bug when i was fighting with the soldiers.

So yeah, that's what i think of this mod.

A shame this mod was a disappointment, to you, anyway. I've never played a Half Life game in the series , but the story is ingenius! I enjoy some time watching walkthroughs, a shame my computer can't handle them. But anyway, what's the surprise? New games are horrible, remakes usually suck too, do they not? xP

I agree with everything, well the part you said "This isn't COD or BF" I now feel like I'm over exaggerating.

 

But anyway, I was a bit disappointed too, the voice acting and graphics are nice but I was a bit pissed by the major changes they made to the original game which I certainly enjoyed, I was expecting this to be worth the 8 years of wait but no, They ruined the game play, The weapons, The enemies (i.e. Houndeye, Alien controller) and added a stupid NPC follow which delayed your possession of your crowbar, letting your "friends" do all the work for you. It just ruins the feel of Half Life, it's a waste of ability, I liked the new, clean atmosphere but it was missing a whole chunk of What made Half Life an Award winning Game.

 

But I don't want to sweat it, after all it's just a little mod, They might make improvements in the future. Maybe the gameplay changes were just an experiment to bring HL2's elements into HL1?

I won't say ALL new games are terrible, But I see the point, this remake kinda rocked, but sucked
